Hacking Playing GC backups + ps3 controller?

I wasn't entirely sure which category this goes in, as it seems to fit a broad range.

Basically, I'm giving my modded wii to my friend for his birthday in 10ish days so he can play a lot of Wii and GC games that he never grew up with. The main issue here is that my disc drive in the wii is completely screwed and I have to load the games by USB, but I don't have money to get a GC controller for him right away and I was wondering which backup loaders allow you to play gc with a ps3 controller after seeing things like this.

Devolution would seem like the right idea, but I can't actually backup the game discs (that I actually do own) to be able to do that, so I need another USB GC loader that allows for ps3 control.

You can wait for Nintendon't, which will support PS3 controllers when it comes out.

Any scheduled date for that? If it's going to be a while, I might as well find a way to get a gc controller, but I figured I could save myself that money and let him use his controllers.

I don't think so, and development is going pretty slowly anyway
