Hope it does though. Death Note is good

As much as I have to face reality, I don't see this happening. I guess will just have to wait a year before they have this out in English if the anime succeeds in US. (Death Note is now licensed by Viz Media?)

might work on it if it is really this good...
I'm a bit refrained by the death penalty issue of this manga. It seems that from japanese common sense, killing murderers is normal, the only thing making kira a bad person is that he kills them out of the normal process (judgment, ect...).
Thou shallt not kill

So true

Killing a person does not correct anything... No one has the right to take living person's life

Yeah... trying my forum might be a good idea, but I'll tell you, a game isn't anything easy to translate. Even if you were to get the text ripped out, it's completely out of order and context plays a pretty important part in translating... So, like the other thread you created Shiro, I'm not sure if anyone is going to jump at the job

. Perhaps by putting out a bounty it'd draw more attention? Just a suggestion~

It's just I've been doing manga translation for a long long time, and dealt with many translators heck I even hosted the first death note forum^^; it's just a game of this size and complexity would take quite a while... and finding someone to dedicate that much time is asking quite a bit...

Just my opinion~

Took a look at the rom but did not get much from it (bear in mind it is 5:00am and I had just woke up on the sofa when I was doing this) but it does not appear to be as easy as JUS or some of the other DS roms (basically we are not using shift_JIS). Then again simply messing around with a hex editor is not likely to yield much.
Anyone tried any emus out yet, I got sidetracked by oblvion so I have not set any up really on my new computer?.
If not I will start disassembly and inverting (corrupting) stuff, most of it appears to be textures and the like so it should not take that long.

FAST6191: Sorry for going offtopic but you seemed knowledgable in the field of hacking. I was wondering if there is any possibilities in extracting anything (apart from music) from Elite Beat Agents like the artwork or is that something that requires a lot of coding knowledge to create a program that does that?

I had a look at EBA a little while back and seem to recall it is mainly 3d and/or compressed graphics so your best bet is emulation and then ripping the artwork using that.
Ensata or no$gba are your best bet for 3d stuff but http://www.desmume.com/ does sport some nice (free) hacking features.

Translation isn't as easy as people make it out to be... think about it, rarely is a translation completed. The most complete one I can think of is Love Hina Advance.

Courtesy of the simple pointers, the DS file system and the fact that known tables (shift_JIS, ASCII unicode etc) are frequently used DS games are among the easiest to translate of any system (certainly ones I have ever worked with). The lack of emulation (which is slowly being rectified) however means it gets that little bit more difficult when problems arise.

As for most complete, Chinese translations aside Fire Emblem IV: The Sealed Sword aka Fire Emblem - Fuuin no Tsurugi has a 99.99 complete translation (some initial video stuff is all that has not been done)

There are also a bunch of non-English European language translations that are for all practical purposes complete and seen as the GBA is now "dead" some of the more mainstream rom hacking community is moving in.

Still I am dragging this off topic, Death note seems to use the subarchive thing seen in several other games with mutiple files contained within one entry on the nitro-rom FS.

ya it seems no one really hacks ds games since it can takes ages #=# and im willing to do alot of ds games if i can get someone to do everything else besides translating >.
