It comes out on Wednesday, and I have a huge Death Note fan. I heard about the game, and jumped for joy. Heard how it played and I figured it'd be one of the best games ever. Then the Japanese only part got to me, especally considering it's DEATH NOTE. How much effort do you think will be put into a Translation Project for the game, considering I doubt it'll get a U.S. release?

I'll second that... The anime and manga are both excellent!

I'd imagine it would be fairly language based given the nature of the manga/anime. Given the popularity of the series in western countries it might just get a release (I'm not holding my breath though). I'd love to see a translation project started if it is not released in the US/EU.

Some anime/manga fan I am but I have never seen/read this (or twelve kingdoms which I hear is also good), find a translator and you can count whatever hacking skills I happen to have in though (on a related note I dumped the script for JUS earlier and figured out the pointers so if any translator wonders: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=43757

If you haven't seen the series, I highly recommend you check it out. Episodes for it are not hard to come by, and the game seems great.

Are there any Japanese-understand people here at GBATemp who would be willing to work on this? You would have the eternal gratitude of everyone.

Yeah at first I was wondering if I was going to continue this because of it, but I'm glad I did finish it. Even if, sadly, the series is not finished.

might work on it if it is really this good...
I'm a bit refrained by the death penalty issue of this manga. It seems that from japanese common sense, killing murderers is normal, the only thing making kira a bad person is that he kills them out of the normal process (judgment, ect...).

FYI Death Note anime was licensed, so if it does well in USA, then the game may also get a USA version.

On topic... I wouldn't hold your breath for a translation. Rom translations for text-heavy games typically take years, and there isn't a very large number of romhackers with DS experience.

Anyways, we don't even know if the game is any good. There are a few good anime-based games, but the vast majority of them suck hard.

The fact it's a Konami game relieves me a little bit, because generally I've enjoyed games put out by them. And if you were to get a bunch of translators together, instead of dumping the entire game on about two people, it might only take a couple months?

And the game is based off the manga, not the anime. Not that it makes that much of a difference.
