Downgrading has always been possible with DFU Mode. Apple did try to stop downgrades by forcing SHSHs to be fetched from Apple's servers with newer device/firmware combinations.Jamstruth said:You can't unlock without voiding the warranty. Sorry dude. The latest way it works is to restore an iPad baseband firmware which is irreversible and instantly detectable by Apple.Since Apple never implemented downgrading, hackers found a way to save your SHSH blobs, so you can downgrade yourself. Apple obviously never implemented a way to downgrade the baseband either, and the hackers haven't came up with a way to do so (yet).metamaster said:A restore affects the firmware of the device. The baseband is separate, like a firmware for its cellular radio. If you're unlocked (iPad's baseband, 06.15.00.), you're on a higher baseband than what your iPhone normally supports and it will remain unchanged if you restore/update/downgrade, since iTunes only touches the baseband when it gets updated.
abdudi said they have an iPhone 4, which never had an unlock since 4.0.x. The iPhone 3 cannot use baseband 6.15.00, as it uses a different baseband chip from the original iPad, iPhone 3G, and iPhone 3GS.
