So yeah, I've had PeerBlock installed for a while, but never run it because I have no idea what to do.

I had it running, but it would stop all of my browsers from working. So can someone help me out, give me steps or whatever to help get the most out of it for what I need?

Basically all I want to do is, because I do a lot of downloading via torrents and stuff, I want to hide from my ISP (i know it doesn't do it 100%), Shaw, what I'm downloading, or hide as much as I can.

if its blocking certain sites or games from working, just open the log window and right click the ip# its blocking and choose to allow that ip permanently. You can also choose to allow http

But if I'm downloading something from the internet, like not via uTorrent, does it still block whatever from seeing what I'm downloading from firefox?

That's not actually something it attempts to prevent because that's not how things work...

It's meant for swarm-type downloads (like torrents). THERE people can see what you're downloading.

Not something "direct" like in-browser downloads.

Since the subject comes up now, I wonder, does it offer me any extra protection if I use it in conjunction with Jdownloader/MU, RS etc? (I never upload files or use P2P/Torrents) I have it on all the time and I've manually enabled certain things for sites I visit a lot (like GBATemp and PSX-Scene) but if it's not doing anything for my privacy then I'm not sure if it's worth using.

If it's a direct download it does nothing because nobody else is involved, and if you block the source IP you don't get the file.

well, I get the file, the source isn't blocked

But good to know; now I can stop having to enable every other website I visit
