I cant seem to get it to work on my mac, Any Idea how to fix this ?

Put your Switch in RCM mode now

Traceback (most recent call last):

File "./shofel2/shofel2.py", line 246, in <module>

rcm = RCM()

File "./shofel2/shofel2.py", line 50, in __init__

fds_before = get_fds()

File "./shofel2/shofel2.py", line 37, in get_fds

return set(int(i) for i in os.listdir("/proc/self/fd"))

FileNotFoundError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/proc/self/fd'

use my mac tutorial for dummys :)

The sudden power off issue still persisists...
Even with the switch plugged, i wonder if this gnome image has causing this ? because it never happened with the LXDE one

I can confirm it's an issue with the KDE and LXDE images. I haven't tested the image with GNOME.

Nice to know i'm not alone in this situation. LxDE never caused this "Power Crash" tho, must be that battery issue these linux distros has with switch

That's what I think as well. My Switch has suddenly shut off even with the AC charger connected to it. I have also noticed it happens more often when running processes that are either RAM or CPU hungry, like web browsers + HTML5 stuff and emulators (like Dolphin).

This isnt really painless imo.
Takes me forever to actually get into RCM. When I do, linux almost always black screens. Wifi never works because reboot and re-running the exploit also black screens.

This is a very painful linux :/

Tired of trying to boot the useless Linux on your Switch without succeeding ? Tired of reading through the 57 guides I made just to see a black screen or USB error ? Fear no more, for I have come with...

~ Painless Linux ~

Grab it while it's hot : https://github.com/natinusala/painless-linux
Everything is explaned in the README of the repository.

Now you can boot Linux from any system (Windows, Mac OS, Linux or Android), without any extra work :
  1. Download the disk image
  2. Burn it on your SD card using Etcher or dd
  3. Clone or download the repository and use the provided scripts (for Android you need to copy 2 files)
The system is an improved version of @00Cancer's GNOME Arch Linux image :
  • sudo
  • chromium browser
  • scripts to manage GPU clock profiles (courtesy of @Gigaa)
  • SSH server enabled by default
  • automatic root filesystem expand to fit your SD card

I will try to keep it updated, with incremental updates, if applicable. I will also keep this post minimal, as everything is already in the README.

Have fun with your almost functional Linux !
>has been having trouble with using shofel2
>hopes that this is a new way to boot linux
>tfw its just another linux image

Yeah, it happens to me almost every time, its very unstable the way it is right now, fearing that it can mess with the battery forever. Anyway i will be waiting for updates from it

Might wanna fix the way you type with quotes there :/
Your supposed to have a [/QUOTE] at the end of it to stop your message showing in it.

I can, it often freezes up for a few seconds before coming back. Nothing too major. No black screens.

Wow, few second after I typed that and it crashed.

Also happened after I un-plugged the cable, which you mentioned caused issues earlier. Strange :/

I don't see how I can do more painless actually, an image + a boot script is the strict minimum

If you use it unplugged, you cant use the system at all, plugged it take sometimes until the black crash

Probably just my method of getting into RCM :/
Its an LCD screen with a wire taped down onto its ground pin, with the other end hanging out to short Pin 10.

I see. I bought a jig to avoid exactly this

Even with the low power profile ?
