Hey guys, so I recently updated my Switch to 19.1.0 (Sysnand and Emunand), AMS 1.8.0 | E , Hekate 6.2.2

After 2 days I noticed the back panel is starting to come off a little as shown in the picture!

This could be due to the battery swelling but I unfortunately do not have a screwdriver needed to open up this switch!
I therefore have a few questions!

1) I feel I need to order a new back panel and battery for my nintendo switch V1 erista unpatched! Does anyone know where I can get a replacement one to order?

2) I am not good with hardware / opening stuff up , is replacing the back panel and battery as simple as say replacing the back and battery of say, a mobile phone?

3) What screwdriver is needed to open up the screws on the switch v1 erista unpatched?

Thanks again!

Thank you so much!

Ok, so I ordered the K5 PRO Viscous Thermal Paste from Ubuy!
PORTENTUM Isopropyl Alcohol 99.9% - From Amazon
Got the Nintendo switch repair kit from IFixit

Just wish i got a date from ifixit for when it'll come, i live in UK

I will return to this topic when all the parts are in and if I have any issues, but i'll use the guide at the link you provided
thank you!

Update: I've stripped some of the screws as it seems the Nintendo switch Joycon panel screws are very difficult to remove!
I have used the Ifixit guide here: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Nintendo+Switch+Battery+Replacement/112995

On Step 5 it says: Use a JIS 000 screwdriver or an official iFixit PH 000 driver to remove the two 3.8 mm center screws on the sides of the device (one on each side). [I have the IFixit PH 000 Screw driver]

These are the stripped screws, I have also tried to remove the other screws with a PH 000 driver and they also are becoming stripped, ill include images!

I am looking into how to remove stripped screws, does anyone know a good solution!

I am currently ordering a backplate which comes with a different screwdriver, may try and get a rubber band too!

These are methods #1, #2 from IFIXIT, #3 pliers probably wont work as the screw hasn't budged much!

Anyone got any help to offer?
Thanks again

I have tried everything and still cannot get out the small screw, i will go for a small drill

So got questions:

1) Anyone know what small drill I should use for a JIS 000 Screw in nintendo switch which is STRIPPED

2) Anyone know what flathead screwdriver size i need for JIS 000 Screws to turn it after i drill it a little?

3) Also what goggles would you recommend

Thanks for all the help guys so far

This obviously depends on how badly the screws are stripped and I know those Switch screws can be tiny, but a method I've had success with in the past is to use an elastic/rubber band in-between the screw and screwdriver. This can sometimes give you enough tension to rotate the screw. Good luck!

I've recently had issues with my Switch console overheating and continuing to drain the battery, even when put to sleep. I've since learned this is a widespread issue. Hopefully an update soon fixes the issue.

Unfortunately i tried this method and it didnt work, the middle secton screw on the joycon rail of the switch are screwed in so tight!

Just need to figure out which drill i can use etc.

Thanks for your reply though, i heard this method was successful for some people

Use a bit that is only slightly bigger than the shaft of the screw and stop when the screw head comes off.

A bit only slightly bigger? Ok, i appreciate the help
These are apprently jis 000 screws, so im thinking i should use a small drill and screw into the shaft like you said, that's no problem!

Any recommendations though on the small drill i should buy or will the drill not matter as much...
As for the drill bit, i may have to do some research

but thank you so much :D

I used a dremel. It's a little easier to control than a drill. Used the precision drill bit set from Dremel that has sizes 0.8-3.2mm which is perfect for things like this.
I had to drill out one of the very same screws myself. It was stuck from the factory.

The drill bit set looks like this (Dremel 628)
I forget which size I ended up using, it might've been the 1.6.

I would say use Y00 and P00 bits

And the dremel itself.

Ok, thanks for all your help, final question before I order and give it a try!

Which Dremel drill works best with these "Dremel 628 Precision Drill Bits" out of interest?

Dremel 3000, Dremel 4250, or Dremel 8260, all seem to be compatible!

I got the 3000, the difference is only in how powerful the motor is, I don't need it often and I figured I don't need the most powerful one for the things I do. And the price difference is significant. I did get one that came with a pouch and a few tools already included.

Just came in today, the 3.2 fits but I see I need a different sized collet (holder) for the smaller drill bits!

Will Dremel 4485 Collets Kit with 4 collects and 1 collet nut be what I need?

Or Dremel 4486 Multi Chuck (0.8 - 3.2 mm) ???

I think Dremel 4486, as it says it works with every size but I just want to verify with you first...

Thanks for all your help so far!

Update: So i was able to get the back plate off finally, followed the rest of the guide, put the new battery in and put back in microsd card and boot to hekate!

Says Warning: "Nyx is missing" though when i boot into hekate 6.2.2!

Battery must be in place properly or I wouldn't have made it to this stage!
Maybe its the sd card?

Anyone know the issue? Also, power button on hekate isn't working but power buttons ( - and + ) are!

I'll also show an image of the situation!

Thanks for all the help so far guys!

P.S: Let me know if the image loads properly

Sorry for the triple post! but I have a new update!

I have made a lot of progress, put the power battery and Sd card reader (which was giving me trouble) back in but the system's power button is not working!

Seems to be no way to turn off the system in Sysnand so im sticking to emunand for now!

Anyone know why the power button is not working, i feel it could be a ribbon failure
Anyone know an expert located in Great Britain/UK that can fix this?
