OTP Guide

Full Guide Release!

https://plailect.github.io/OTP/

All regions now supported!

If you appreciate this guide and the work I put into maintaining it, I accept donations through both Bitcoin and PayPal.

If you felt like the guide helped you out then I'd really appreciate it! If I get enough I may buy a 2DS for testing hardware stuff so I don't break another N3DS.

If the guide didn't help you out then I'm really sorry about that :(

please can someone upload this cia 0004013800000102 v8817 it is to restore my _firm that i download a patch to play r4 on my nand u.u . With this patch i can't downgrade my emunand 10.6 to 2.1 because there is a part where it says native firm failed or something like that

Not sure if anyone has this same problem but I could not get minipasta from the link to install on my n3DS. Kept getting black screen. Had to use older version of minipasta from another post and it worked for me. Finally got arm9loaderhax working. Hope this help someone out there with same issue.

Is there any way for arm9leaderhax users to get the other otp easily without downgrade
Lol just go through the process again. It'll be like a trip down memory lane :ha:
I'm not gonna do it until there actually is a use for this. Though it makes me wish we were more patient

Since we have backed up our 2.1 emunand the process to get the outher OTP will be fairly easy.

Just finished my last 3ds, was a little bit harder since the guide had change since I did my first 2 3ds, but I managed. Good thing is that I got the 2 OTP.

Yeah true. Can't be too careful though. ^_^

I sure as heck didn't, but even if I did I wouldn't really want to remove A9LH to reflash 2.1. Hopefully if it ever becomes useful there will be an easier way to get it for those with A9LH already installed.

But if you would do a nand backup of your systemnand wouldn't you keep your A9LH? Then restore with the 2.1 fw to get the second OTP, and then restore back your nand with the A9LH. Or I am thinking wrong here?

Actually, I lied, on 1 of the 2 downgrades I did (my main, new 3DS), I still have the 2.1 backup since I had to copy it to my computer and unbrick it. My brother's old 3DS didn't need to do such a thing, so I didn't back it up before deleting it all.

Still, my main problem with it is that I'd need to flash a 2.1 backup that doesn't have A9LH, and while it may not actually be dangerous (except for the always fun User Error Brick possibility), it seems pretty silly to remove the protections that it gives you from screwing yourself, even if only temporarily. If an A9LH CFW could boot into a 2.1 emuNAND/sysNAND, I'd be all for that. I'd just make a backup and downgrade it again, no big deal.

It's mainly just a hope that there'll be a better way if it ever starts getting used. There has to be a better way.

Guys if I do this will I still have my emunand saves intact? Or do I have to backup them also somehow?

I already have reinand setup working on a N3DS

I followed the guide today, starting from an EmuNAND setup, and successfully got AL9H installed.

Just wanted to point out a couple of instructions I thought were slightly ambiguous:

Part 4 (New 3DS) Section I
22. Navigate to hblauncher_loader.cia and press A to install
23. Launch the Homebrew Menu using the home menu icon
The user might not know they can exit FBI by pressing the Home button, or that it has installed the Homebrew Launcher app to the regular home screen. I think 23 should say something like, "Press the Home button to exit FBI, then select the newly-added Homebrew Launcher icon to enter the Homebrew Menu."

Part 4 (New 3DS) Section II
18. Launch OTPHelper, then go to "NAND Backup & Restore"
We're already in OTPHelper at this point, saying to launch it suggests a reboot is required but isn't clear.

Also might want to mention that emuNAND_formatted.bin is no longer useful after the emuNAND_2-1-0.bin backup has been made.

Anyway, overall the guide was extremely well written and easy to follow. Thanks so much for all the work you must have put into it! Also thanks for answering a question I had on IRC :)

So I'm on the last parts of part 4 where you restore your system. The part that confuses me states:
  1. Delete the folders from the inside of the Nintendo 3DS folder on your SD card that are not in the Nintendo 3DS folder you copied to your computer in Section I (the Nintendo 3DS folder on your SD card should now look the same as the one from Section I)
Am I basically just copying and pasting the Nintendo 3DS folder I backed-up in the first part under "Prep Work" or do I have to manually go in and delete files that don't match up with the same filesize as the original Nintendo 3DS folder?
