I just tried and got this error too on old 3ds EU.
Followed the tutorial step by step.

edit: Did you install the modified TWL cia? I think that may be the cause.

I've fixed it, download 10.5 with 3dnus find that one and then install it with devmenu_2.x not fbi fbi doesn't work

That seemed to fix it. The problem was that I installed the modified TWL cia.

Ok, that's what I thought, and of couse I won't downgrade with the GW, I'll only use it to install FBI

e: just remember one question that I forgot to ask:
In the zip that @Plailect give, the 3ds and updates folder have capital letters "3DS" and "Updates", actually I have "3ds", and for the friend's 3ds that I have downgraded, I have make "updates" dir, not "Updates", that significant or not ?

Anyone can share their mind about that ?

It's not significant, but remove the updates folder from your SD first, I guess.

I don't see why a9lh installation would fail, tho.

I have no problem to downgrade to 2.1 its easy.
But to compile arm9loaderhax.3dsx (only get it with Trill Spector help) thanks a lot

Is it normal for it to fail over 10 times on step 16/17 of https://github.com/Plailect/OTP/blob/master/Old_3DS_Spider.md?
I have an o3ds and I think it fails around the same CIA and the top screen goes black and the Nintendo error ('An error has occurred...') pops up on the bottom screen.

Edit: Looks like the guide has been updated to include updating emuNAND to 10.5. This made it work for me.

Alright, it's past midnight, I've been at this all day, final results:

N3DS: Running A9LH. Swapped Sys- and EmuNAND successfully. Accidentally removed FBI (oops) but the power of having a recent backup let me get it back.

O3DS: Updating EmuNAND let SysUpdater run properly, got OTP, ran a newly compiled A9LH and...

Dammit.

Though I'll admit it's unlikely, it's still one more hurdle of clenching.

Starting to think that should be a step on the guide for old ones, seeing a lot of that as the solution around here (and can confirm it myself)
