OTP Guide

Full Guide Release!

https://plailect.github.io/OTP/

All regions now supported!

If you appreciate this guide and the work I put into maintaining it, I accept donations through both Bitcoin and PayPal.

If you felt like the guide helped you out then I'd really appreciate it! If I get enough I may buy a 2DS for testing hardware stuff so I don't break another N3DS.

If the guide didn't help you out then I'm really sorry about that :(

Has anyone used 3dsdb to confirm what update their game cart will update sysnand to? Im having trouble understanding the site because I have an eu Pokemon omega ruby cart (bought in south africa) and according to the site I think it will update my 3ds to 7.2 (please confirm). Could that FW still enable me to access homebrew to restore sysnand.bin?

Also the guide doesnt state formatting anything (sysnand or emunand) so is it ok to downgrade without formatting anything? Asking because I dont want to redownload anything or lose streetpass and mii plaza stuff.

Lastly, after restoring sysnand how do you actually go about installing any CFW?

Yeah I can answer most of that since I actually use OR as my updater. So yes OR will update your game to 7.2. From there, I use the browser and go to Gateway's website to launch launcher.dat for Decrypt9. After that I just go to the sysnand settings and restore my sysNand.bin.

No you don't have to format anything.

If you need to install cfw, just go to the 3ds tutorial section and follow their steps.

First BIG credits to these members
Plailect; for writing this awesome guide (big SAVE) and
to all who contributed.
Shadowtrance; reading your posts on your success and failures (this saved me) and for posting a compiled "EmuNAND9-20160201-142136"
Capito27; I read your post with regards to recommending an upgrade to 6 fw (saved me)

Thank you:)

After many nail biting moments I have successfully downgraded my New 9.0.0-28U 3ds XL with some changes to the guide;
a) I was unable to boot emunand after formatting emunand with tiny format or system settings so I decided to press on anyway but I felt before doing so I should try to do something to clean up the emunand a bit before downgrading it so instead I deleted the Nintendo 3ds folder and because my nand and emunand were linked, I decided to visit data management to take advantage of the "Gift Bug" and have it delete cia's installed to emunand
b) Used Bliss Hex Editor on ubuntu; that hex editor is awesome and make the job very easy!
c) Used Pokemon X US to upgrade to 6.1.0-4
d) Once I was on 6.1.0-4, all exploits availble on http://dukesrg.no-ip.org/3ds/ seemed to just crash my system. The only spider exploit that worked on 1st try was visiting http://go.gateway-3ds.com
e) I followed the cubic ninja guide
f) had to inject FBI.cia into health and safety app using decrypt 9 and Universal Injector. Once FBI was installed, I installed homebrew loader cia on emunand and then I installed system updater as cia and downgraded with that
f) I do not have a hard nand mod.

Where I really had trouble with this whole process was in creating a new emunand 9.0.0-28U to work from, after many, many hours I gave up and ended up having to rely on backups; an old reinand payload with 9.0.0-28U emunand.

Question... After downgrading can I use sky3ds to upgrade back the system, is it possible do put a .3ds on it with a game that contains the upgrade?

You could put Cubic Ninja on it, use it to boot Ninjahax, and from there restore your 9.2 sysnand backup.

You could or you could do what I have already confirmed that works, Capito27 news suggests to me that FW 6 is the sweet spot for New3DS and ninjhax doesn't work on 6 fw for new3ds. +I have confirmed you can update via spider gateway from here.

Oh sorry I didn't see your replies about that.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I have a question. I currently have 9.2 sysnand (vanilla except for FBI and menuhax) and 10.5 emunand with NNID linked. NANDs are unlinked. I intend to carry out this downgrade process today and will be using a completely separate, freshly formatted microSD card so my emunand will be untouched by the process.

My question is, will this process affect the NNID link at all? Should I unlink my NNID before starting and re-link afterwards, or is this not necessary?

So can you ue the OTP with Arm9loaderhax without having a hard mod?
Yes, but the risk for bricking is very high. I'm trying it without a hardmod, and I know that I'll have no one but myself to blame if it bricks. It'll give me a legitimate reason to bring my N3DS to work though.

Is it possible to make a hardmod after bricking the 3ds?(Of cours a NAND Backup before bricking)
When yes then are there any Tutorials how i can do it by myself?

What you are planning to do is what I did; use a separate sd for the same purpose. NNID, I haven't even tested it yet to see if it survived but if you format via system settings on emunand you loose NNID from what I have read thats why you want to use tiny format instead, but for me, neither worked :) It will be easy for me to re-link NNID though if there is a problem.

Can you re-link NNID even if emunand thinks it is still linked? Without formatting it?
