Hacking old softmodded wii

hi i need some advice i softmodded my wii about 2 yrs ago have not touched it for about a yr now some of the newer games dont work anymore is it ok to do a update via wii console then remod it again with whatever the new way is i want to play call of duty and fifa these games are not working for me at the moment my wii is 3.2 i think i know i could read through the forums but a quick reply would be more helpfull
