Hi guys !

Here's the short story : I dropped my PS3 80 GB Fat CFW 3.55 on the floor during cleaning my bedroom. Shy on me. Now, the PS3 freeze on the XMB, during a game or a movie. I've tried to fix it by changing the HDD but it's still freezing. I decided to open it and the only thing that doesn't seem normal for me was a plastic broken pin :

I fix it with crazy glue. But I can't see what is broken inside and I'm not a professional. That's why I'm asking you guys! How can I fix it? Does it worth a fix? Maybe I should throw up to the garbage and buy new one? The probleme seems to be on the motherboard. Here's a screenshot of freezing when I tried to format the HDD :

Thank's in advance for your advice!

Sorry for my poor english, I'm still learning!

If it's a problem with the motherboard there's nothing you can really do.
replacing the motherboard is not worth the effort.
Oh, I see. So I should probably buy a new one. Thank's for your quick reply.

Does the PS3 screen's colors looks like that or thats your TV?
It look only like that when it freeze. But when it's not freezing, the colors are fine.

Then you need a new PS3.
That mean when you dropped it you damaged the GPU

Yeah unless you are very skilled at building computers, then I would stay nowhere near replacing the motherboard.

There is a repair console shop near of my home and they charge 25$ to see what is the problem. Thay also ready to buy the PS3 for 75$. Should I sell it to them? Or should I pay the 25$ to see what is broken inside?

Well the problem is the GPU or the Motherboard so getting them to confirm will do nothing so I suggest selling it to them.
But it's your console and your choice.

Alright then! Thank's again. Now, I need to find a PS3 with a CFW. I saw that list http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/SKU_Models. I will try to find a compatible PS3 to downgrade it to 3.55.

See you

I wonder if that was the point of game streaming
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    But it's a dead end
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@Psionic Roshambo, people who cant download it can still play the game
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
If your internet speeds are fast enough. Streaming 4k takes alot. I used to only have 20mb sec, and 4k struggled. Now I have 300mb sec and 4k plays fine.

@BigOnYa, i only have like 1 or 2 mb sec

Did you feed the hamster in your internet router? It prob died and is running slow now.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, why did you start saying my pc has a hamster in the first place?

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

im taking a break for today anyway

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
