Hacking Official Gateway 3DS Brick

Hello there.

Firstly, I have got my Gateway yesterday. I have done everything right, but Red Card doesn't read any games. I have tried 1.2, 2.0b1 - nothing works. Tried 2.0b2 (stupid) and bricked.

I'm going to guess and say you didn't do it right.

That or the cards malfunctioned which caused the brick which means this claim can't be used to prove the Gateway brick code actually bricks Gateway users.

Does someone believe that the data inserted in the cartridge slot can cause a brick? Isn't that slot for user level applications?

That makes no sense. The card shouldn't have anything to do with the OFFICIAL gateway firmware.

Should I expect a brick if I launch Gateway mode with a retail cart in my system?

Maybe gateway FW does check which card you tired to use? If the code is not correspond to the FW, it may cause brick to the system.
Just my theory.

But since you didn't dumped your nand you will have to contact gateway and hope for the best

Tried 1.2 - SD card test fail
Tried 2.0b1 - SD card test fail
Tried 2.0b2 - SD card test OK, after 5 sec - BLOD.

Was so happy, now I can't stand GW. I don't know what to do. I ordered my GW from RealHotStuff.hk. It's a good shop, but GW was corrupted.
Hope, I can return my money for GW. My 3DS is a present. If I bought it myself, I would cry a lot.

I'm hoping it didn't brick a special edition 3DS XL, that would have really sucked since I know the Pikachu one has firmware suitable for gateway

sorry to hear about the 3ds, but did you get a nand dump on b1, before you got bricked?

I haven't done backup nand =(. Also my 3DS was in Mario Kart 7 bundle.

Sounds like the cards were faulty from the get-go. I definitely wouldn't have tried to run 2.0b2 after everything else failed, but it's an honest mistake. Your only options that we know of right now are to contact Gateway and ship your console to them through your reseller, or replace your motherboard.

or try get a replacement 3ds from wherever you bought it and also speak to your reseller for replacement cards........and next time stick to b1 and back up your nand

I suppose, if you can find a third-party electronics repair shop. Call around. Nintendo won't touch the thing, and they might even charge you just to ship it back.
