Swinging by the Marvelous Interactive booth earlier today, we were given a first glimpse at Vanillaware's Wii game Oboro Muramasa Youtouden (no U.S. title has been announced yet). The game is a 2D action fighting title set in mystical feudal Japan and it uses the same visual and art style as Vanilla's recent popular PS2 RPG Odin Sphere. Take a look at this first trailer and screens we grabbed to see just how gorgeous it looks.

I have not gotten the chance to play Odin Sphere on PS2, but seen trailers and downloaded a soundtrack from the game. It's absolutely amazing, and that Vanillaware is very talented at 2D platforming games.

Some information on this game "Oboro Muramasa Youtouden" is that it's only been announced for the Wii, and they have no plans or really any desire for a 360 or PS3 version due to the massive development cost they require (Vanillaware is a smalltime independent developer), so the cost is with the Wii is more to their benefit.

The setting of the game is with two main characters, one a young girl who wears a kimono, but wields a katana. The other a young ninja who can't remember his past. Not much has been revealed yet. Everything in the game is hand-drawn.

I can assure you, I will be getting this game, and because they are a small independent developer (there is only 13 people in this company!) I'll most likely purchase this one.
