@FFTW can you reproduce the bug with local file play instead of usb (just to isolate that is a usb releated bug)?
how to do that?
also, any thoughts on the arabic font issue? :).

Ok I gona test with a 128gb USB to try to reproduce, can be related with USB devices.

Happends with short videos or need to play a full movie to reproduce?

Yes, the crash it's a kernel panic, it's a atmosphere screen with error code and last calls before crash, happend to me on the past with some beta versions, but it's the first time that I see one of this on release.

With horizon I mean the switch firmware (that it's called HorizonOS), the version that console show on settings menu.

I gona try to reproduce this on 0.6 and if I manage to reproduce, I gona try on the current beta too that have debug info and can be usefull to detect where it's the problem.
happens after watching a couple of anime episodes from different folders, or sometimes after one. there is no clear sequence. It once happened after I watched an episode, exited the folder, then just left it sitting there without touching it. and like I said the crash doesn't always happen, but the extreme lagging almost always happens.

what I see on the settings menu is: "Current Version: 12.1.0/AMS M.19.5/E"

and like I mentioned that never happened to me on 0.5, so it has to be something that changed between 0.5 and 0.6

@FFTW i am sorry about that, we make a lot of testing before release and that never happens to me and my test team. i will investigate it deeply because a new release is nearly ready so i dont want that this bug can be also on 0.6.1.
Thanks for reporting it

@FFTW do you use the nsp forwarder which was posted in this thread some time ago?
no

Thanks! :D.

Just wanted to mention that the crash happened to me now within a couple minutes of starting the program and wiithout even playing anything. I have attached a picture of the error screen too.

Thoughts and guesses: I feel like the lags and crashes happen more frequently now, so it might have a cumulative effect. Also, I think two things might potentially be contributing to them.
One is the large amount of folders I have on the USB. I say that because when I am inside a folder with not that many files inside it the lag is less than the USB main menu.
The second is that, as you told me, I overwrote 0.5 with 0.6, maybe that led to some issue?

Either way, really hope this gets solved, as the player as is is very problematic to use.

Edit: and now it crashed the system when I pressed B to go back to the main menu from within a folder. This is becoming almost unusable tbh.

@FFTW Very strange situtation, can you install a 0.5.1 into another directory of sd card and check if it runs well with your USB drive?

form 0.5.1 to 0.6.0 i didn't changed nothing into the USB part of code..... so is very strange.

I never used 0.5.1, I jumped from 0.5 to 0.6 directly. I can install 0.5 into Another directory, but would the homebrew menu accept having two different versions of the same program?

Anyway I can keep my config.ini after updating with HB browser? I was thinking making the file read only... Everytime I update I lose my network config. Not a big deal but aye

Yes, the first versions are focused on develop stage, now that player support all protocols and have the basic functions (and some advanced too xP) NXMP gona start to take care about user experience.

I propose change the config release on 0.5 beta, so maybe on next release the builds don't override the settings anymore.

Yes you are right, the next releases will have config.ini.template instead of config.ini so it will not be overwritten. Sorry for that.
Aww yeah, user experience? I am very thankful for an audio eq... What about an audio normalizer?
Yes, audio normalizer will be very useful. it will be added (maybe in the next micro version)

Yes, they just need to be in diffrent directory
Ok. added 0.5.0 and been testing it, and I can confidently say that, using the same USB and the same content, neither lags nor crashes happen in 0.5.0, so either something changed between 0.5.0 and 0.6.0 that causes them, or overwriting 0.5.0 with 0.6.0 like you told me was the reason. Really hope that helps you in finding and fixing this issue.

Ok, there where some changes from 0.4.0 to 0.6.0 in usb code, i will investigete on it, and i'll send you a test version since you are the one who can replicate this issue. to see if the fix is working

you mean 0.5.0 to 0.6.0 right?
and sure, send it to me :). should I overwrite the current 0.6.0 with it? or add it in yet another directory?
