Hi everyone,
Like a lot of you I always thought the Switch would make a great Plex remote for the couch (and the bed, and the train), and kept waiting for someone to build it. Now that we have tools like Claude, I figured it was worth giving Claude Code's latest model a shot at
forking Switchfin (dragonflylee's excellent Jellyfin client) and migrating it entirely to the Plex API — and it worked. So here's pleNx, the first native Plex client for the Nintendo Switch.
What it does:
- Sign in with your Plex account via plex.tv/link (4-character code, no password typed on console) — Plex Home profiles with PIN supported
- Home screen mirrors your server's hubs (Continue Watching first, then whatever your server is configured to show)
- Libraries, collections, genres, search, cast & person pages
- Plex Watchlist: browse, sort, filter, add/remove from anywhere in the app
- Offline downloads in original quality — one tap grabs a full season, with a storage gauge for your SD card
- Playback through MPV: direct play + universal transcode (HLS), resume, chapters, external & embedded subtitles, audio track selection (H.264/H.265/VP9/AV1, AC-3/TrueHD/DTS/FLAC/Opus…)
- Remote file servers (WebDAV / FTP / SFTP / HTTP) and USB drives via libusbhsfs
- 14 languages
Install: drop
pleNx.nro in sdmc:/switch/ and launch from hbmenu. On first launch the app offers to install a HOME menu tile (forwarder) so it runs with full memory — needed for video playback. Atmosphère required. Also builds for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and experimentally PS4 / PS Vita.
It's an early release — if something breaks on your setup, issues are very welcome on GitHub.
