Let me rephrase the too-short title. Since we are able to share ROMs that are dumped directly from another person's cartridge (And not one that has been shared with thousands of other people), is online possible with these backups? A few of us on here were discussing how Nintendo blocks ROMs from working online, and it was brought up that maybe they hunt down ROMs online and put down a blacklist for specific cartridges that have been dumped (Maybe there's a file included with each ROM that has the cartridge ID?).
Someone should try dumping a copy of their own game with online capabilities, then test playing online with it on their own Gateway. If this works, try sharing it with a friend somewhere on here and give it a go. I have a copy of Pokemon Y that I'd be willing to let some people try if they're interested, but I'd have to go about dumping it, which I've been avoiding due to how long it probably takes.
I did a search, and didn't find a thread relating to this topic anywhere else, but if it's already been discussed, let me know!
