My Wii has been modded for a while now, using the LetterBomb hack. My SD Card has worked since then, its a 4GB card. I also use a 32GB USB drive to load games via USBLoaderGX, and from my understanding, its at the latest version, 3.0, and all of my IOS/cIOS seem to be fine according to "Pimp My Wii"
However, I bought Super Smash Bros. Brawl from eBay a while ago, and discovered that it wouldn't run. Because its an NTSC copy and my Wii/country in general is PAL (UK). Not a problem, I thought, I can just install it and load it via USBLoader. And for a while this has been working fine.
Either I have to force PAL60 or PAL480p and it works fine. Doesn't show the Remote warning, or the "online interactions" screen, or the loading screen, but when the cut-scene kicks in, the screen flicks back on.
As of today, however, it no longer does. I load it up, the screen goes blank which is normal at this point, then the cut-scene starts ... I can still hear the audio, since its connected to my stereo rather than the TV, but the screen just shows me "no signal". I've tried switching from RGB Scart to the Composite cable that came with the console, same result. I have to press the home button on the Wii remote and figure out roughly where I'm pointing since the screen is still saying "no signal" to get back to the system menu (the click noises help).
Aside from the cables, I've tried changing video options, "disc default" doesn't work since that is NTSC. Well, it does, but the screen just shows everything in red. PAL50 does work, but flickers and stutters, making it unplayable. I've tried reinstalling the game, no luck.
So its not so much a black screen problem as a ... no screen at all problem. I don't know how its gone from working to not working. Something I installed in the mean time? I do look at the homebrew browser downloading thingy. Something messed with an IOS? All my other games still boot from USBLoaderGX, granted, they are PAL games. It seems to only be with this game. I know its a dual-layer disc so I don't know if that causes problems.
