well it seems this is a wide spread issue, as I've seen other threads on this issue.

I updated my 2ds on 11.3 luma 6.6 a9lh to the latest luma and b9s using the guide, downloaded and copied the files the guide to the sd card.
Started the 2ds with start pressed which launched the chain loader, ran the b9s installer which all ran fine then got the luma config screen after which the 2ds is now loading start to home menu even with start pressed during reboot so I can't follow the rest of the guide.

Edit: just noticed I'd copied the .bin instead of .firm for godmod9, going to try replacing the file to see if it helps.

Edit 2: nope that didn't help, how do I get into the chain loader to start godmode9 now? I even tried adding start_ in front of it.

If you prefix a payload with "start_" it'll bypass the chain loader. Make sure you have the latest release of all the payloads you're wanting to use as B9S changed drastically between 1.0 and 1.2, which has required payloads to be updated accordingly.

Like I said I tried adding the start_ infornt of godmode9 without any luck as it still went to home menu, didn't start the chain loader nor load godmode9.

In the end I tried going into fbi and moving boot.firm to ctr-nand which then got godmode9 working when rebooting with start held, tho I also deleted arm9loaderhax.bin from the nand when I copied over boot.firm so not sure which did the trick.

So now the question nis what do I need to delete from from sd card to clean up the stuff no longer need from the old a9lh hack, also unneeded files from the b9s install(have already got rid of the b9s installer as it says to do in the guide.

for A9LH files, I believe there is the A9LH file in the Root and the Files9 folder that you can remove, and you can also remove the boot9strap folder for b9s once your done with installing that of course.

Should I back up the boot9strap folder before deleting it off the sd card?
The guide at the end mentions the button press sequence for dumping the otp etc, I already got the otp while doing the a9lh hack so do I need to do it again? Also will the nand backup from a9lh still work with b9s or will I have to do it again? If so how do you do it?

I would remake your nand backup Via GodMode9, and save that to your computer, as for the Boot9strap folder you can make a backup first if you feel its necessary.

the guide says "You can now remove any arm9loaderhax related files from your SD card, such as arm9loaderhax.bin on the root of your SD card and the aeskeydb.bin file in the files9 folder on your SD card."
"Note that the .bak files in the /boot9strap/ folder on your SD card are only needed in the event of a failed boot9strap install. Once you have installed successfully, you can delete the entire boot9strap folder."

Ok thanks will do, so no need to do the otp dump again then?

Does godmode9 allow you to dump your game carts to cia like hourglass did?

I don't think you need another OTP dump, not 100% certain on that. and yes GodMode9 will let you create .Cia from Cart or .3ds files.
go here to figure out how to use GM9 https://3ds.guide/godmode9-usage.html

Thanks, will have a bit of a play on the 2ds before I go and update the o3ds xl and n3ds xl from a9lh to b9s.
