Hi guys, been doing a lot of reading lately and just joined.

Do you guys think there's more potential in working on dolphin within the Linux environment, or rewriting the libretro core? In many ways I feel like it might be easier to address the driver/kernel issues in Linux, although I know many want a native solution.

I feel like it would be easier and better if it was written in Retroarch or at least available to Lakka.Tv since that's doing so well.

I have no idea on that. I know it somewhat uses linux but just as a startup.

Yeah, that makes it non-native. So the process of making that work better would be much different from rewriting the libretro core, I believe. Most of the issues (battery decalibration, analog joycon support, sound) are probably kernel or driver related.

Also, native dolphin would probably need a rewritten 3D graphical frontend in addition to just the core (unless someone wanted to try working within the official Nintendo SDK, which would probably create some liscencing issues).

Please tell me if I'm totally wrong btw

it wasnt sarcastic, but thats awesome. although ive never heard of Lakka emulator or how to run it. is it based in linux or running on the switch?

Atm, personally I don't want to run it because of the battery issue (messes with Switch RTC and calibration). You can try it out but you have to re-calibrate it by unplugging and plugging back the Switchs battery.
