Hacking Noob to burning Wii ISOs but not to burning game ISOs

Quick question/problem...
I have a Smash Brothers Brawl ISO (obtained legally..backup of my own game) ready to burn on my PC (ISO is over 8 GB, a DVD+R DL disc is in the drive ready to be burned). When I drag the ISO file into DVD Decrypter it gives me the message: "Invalid or unsupported image file format!" Also, when I try to open it in Nero it tells me that it is over 2 gb and the ISO compilation cannot be used..it wants me to change it to UDF.
BUT when I open the ISO in ImgBurn, it shows up no problem, no messages about format, nothing. It is also burning fine but it is still going right now and I cannot test it yet.
My question is, why is there an error message with the other two apps? I've been using DVD Decrypter for years to burn Xbox and Xbox 360 ISOs with no problems, and I know how everything related works as well so I'm not a noob to the area. Any ideas why two Wii ISOs I've tried to burn with DVD Decrypter do not have the "right format" but they seem to open fine in ImgBurn? I'm stumped.

Imgburn. I use it for all .img files movies,xbox,wii. works llike a charme

The IMGburn one should be fine, presuming you dumped it right.

plain and simple, dvd decrypter doesn't support it.

nero, you're doing it wrong.. the way to burn an image in nero is to not use the "new" dialogue box that pops up where it has DVD-Data(ISO) and all that jazz.. just cancel that and in the main nero burning rom window up top click on "Recorder">"Burn Image" then select the iso, it should burn no problem.

and imgburn is just win is why it works flawlessly

it'll play just fine pending any really horribly cheap media used with imgburn

yeah it seems to work good so far, but does it have something that DVD Decrypter and Nero don't?? Why aren't the Wii ISOs opening in either one but they do in ImgBurn? I read threads on forums saying people use other apps like Nero to burn them so I'm confused as hell right now....

Wow that is a great explanation, thank you. I do now see how to do it in Nero, thanks. When burning a Wii game that can fit on a single-layer DVD, do you need to change the book type permanently on the drive using the burning app? Or does it not matter? When I go to the book type menu in ImgBurn, it gives book type options for a few brands of drives, but not my ASUS one...so if I do need to change it, what do I do??
And of course I know the layer break for DL ones needs to be 2084960.

ALSO, is there a way on the PC to check a new burned Wii game to see if the ISO/burn was good? Or is the only way to test it to try it in the system? I ask because I know 360 ISOs can be opened in media players and they show the "Put disc in Xbox 360 console" message with the little animation which usually means it burned right and the ISO was good (USUALLY).

honestly i havent ever changed the book type or needed to bother w/ the layer break for any wii game to date. but thats not to say you won't have to. others might have more insight into that one

Just tried burning at 2.4x with Memorex DVD+R DL which have always worked okay with 360 ISOs. At the end of the burn just now ImgBurn gave me these log messages:

Anyone have an explanation?? Everything had seemed to work fine until this message. I am trying to burn with my other internal NEC burner now to see what happens. I believe both drives have the most updated FW as well and I have the most updated ImgBurn too.
Also, I noticed that I just set the burning speed to 2x on the NEC on the burn I am trying now, and it says writing at 4.1x at times for some reason. Why??? Not sure what speeds the first burn with the ASUS hit though.
And should I have Verify disc checked off or no?

So I tried burning the same image onto another Memorex DL disc with my NEC drive instead and it completed with no errors but Verify disc was checked off and when it tried to verify, it ejected and re-closed the tray to cycle it and then was stuck on 'Waiting for drive to become ready' and just never did anything. So I just cancelled the rest. Lol...god why are drives so unreliable/iffy in their processes?? Plus, the ASUS drive is way newer than the NEC drive I have...and the NEC one seems to work?? Rrriight.
Even though it didn't get through the verify process, is the disc/burn probably good? Don't have a modded Wii to test on at the moment.
Also does anyone have a response to my last post with the log pasted as well? Thanks

99% chance that it'll play just fine, as far as why it wont verify i have no idea. but i'm assuming its because its a file system windows doesnt really recognize so it can't read it in that sense. much like you wont get anything when you insert a regular wii disc into the drive.

Okay sounds good...any input on my log from the first burn using the ASUS drive that I posted above? It was really weird and I am still wondering why it failed with a newer burner..perhaps a slower speed/different media would've made a difference but the same media and a barely faster write speed seemed to work just fine on the older NEC burner so I am stumped. Also, I still don't know why even though set to 2.4x and 2x during both burns, they both reached speeds of 4x and a little higher...dunno why..

well if its anything to you, i'm burning a game now and have imgburn set to verify it so i'll let you know if its what i assumed or if its just on your side. and why it got higher than it should have during burning is something i can't help with. seems like a lot of that stuff is just simply your computer and nobody can really answer you on that one.


well, imgburn is verifying this disc no problem so i'm betting its something on your side, software anyways. (first time i've bothered verifying a disc i've burned hehe)

Most people (myself included) will tell you to use ImgBurn. Seems to work very well. As far as your DVD showing up as a Blank CD.. there might be an easy fix for it but I would be concerned until you find an answer. Maybe try updating your DVD burner drivers?

i did check for updates, run through the process 3 times through device manager as well as visiting the hp site. i was considering uninstalling/reinstalling the driver.

as fro imgburn, i used it... but it didn't work either. process never really got anywhere, failed shortly after 10 seconds from clicking the burn button.

any other ideas? i had posted this topic somewhat questioning the solder of the chip. hear me out, i am not doubting ozmodchips solder job or expertise... as i mentioned in that thread i noticed a pic on wiiclips site that looked different than mine.

to jump back on what i mentioned previously about how the drive reads the disc... if i go through start... my computer... i see this...

so i am only assuming that drive truly is recognizing it as a dvd-r

reading through some posts over at club cdfreaks regarding my hp 640c (lightscribe) drive. i'll post back if an answer is found.

so i went back into start... my computer... and right clicked the dvd drive and found this...

i plopped in 6 dvd's randomly chosen throughout the holder and they all show no free space.

bad discs???
