Hello all-

I've been searching through but haven't found a direct answer. I'm just getting into Switch soft-modding and have a unit on FW 6.02 with a current Atmosphere (9.4 I believe) installed. When trying to install more NSP's through Goldleaf many I've tried state the firmware is either too low or too high, what am I doing wrong? I'm struggling with trying to understand all of the nuances so just warming up. I have a pending 9.xx package that I am able to wipe however it appears to linger no matter what I do.. I am nervous that I'll do something wrong or d/l the latest and undo what I have now.. HELP?

If you're still on 6.X, you should update anyway. Many many games require a higher firmware than 6.X already. Use ChoiDujourNX to update to 8.1.0 or 9.0.1.

If you have 6.0.2, you might want to keep your fuses low or use emummc (to make it easier), as you might get a warmboot.
Thanks for the suggestion, I'm trying to understand all of it albeit in chunks.. I'm slowly crawling thru the FAQ, if you have a suggested read plz point me to the post.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.

I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    For your R4
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    nvm it does support mine
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Slightly slower loading but a bit more convenient
