okay .. i never opened a Wii, it's for a friend, mine is softmodded, i have an old wii from 2008 so .. but then .. i looked on ebay and what i found was almost 75 $ and more .. i think that it is much cheaper to buy an external drive ..

is it in the price or i didn't find the right thing ?

just go for the external drive, cause it's multi purpose.

your friend can use it for wii and as a regular external drive if setup correctly

It's been a year since I last modded a Wii. Now I have a new one and I want to keep it clean and not make any changes to it. But I do have a need to launch SAVEGAME EXTRACTOR 2.0 to copy some saves to and from an SD card. I have system version 4.2e. How would you copy a save that can't be copied without modding any files? Can I just launch the extractor with an exploit like the bannerbomb I used last year?

I'm told Triiforce is no longer a viable option since it isn't compatible with 4.2..
It's compatible. Just install cIOS rev17.

It's not hard at all to open a Wii; it's just a few screws.

Hey there. i dont mean to be a pain, but i need to send my wii in for repair, and before i send it in i need to revirginize my wii. From my understanding Nintendo has created a bootable disc which searches for illegal software. According to the article whihc revealed this the reason teh wii as detected as softmodded was because some cIOS's were not properly removed. I am following the virginization guide here. My question is this. The guide says to remove IOS's above 200 except 249, but what about the stub? what about the custom IOS 73 or 37 53 w/e i may have installed through Dopemod or cIOS rev 19 etc, how would i restore those to non custom? Should I just follow the guide then after im done do an official update? im sorry i just want everything to be cleaned out before i send it in. Even if it is impossible to get away with it i at least want to try. sry to be a bother. id rly appreciate anyhelp i can get before my Wii's GPu frys

You have to buy a card because when you boot a gamecube game the wii goes into gamecube mode. It's kind of like a console inside a console. SD cards or USB's could not be run on a gamecube so that's why u have to use the card.

Ninty's disc will detect homebrew being installed even if it's wiped clean.

@ Gordinio i checked out thememii and it's still not what i'm looking for. i looking for some thing like the CfgLoaderConfigurator, where it's easy to load the images and fonts that i've worked on and create a theme out of them.

thememii seemed alot like mymenu.

How do i move all my apps and roms from my sd card to the fat partition of my hdd.I tried just dragging everything from the sd to the hdd but when i opened the homebrew channel none of my apps were there.help?

copy & paste the apps folder from the root of your sd card to the root of your hdd
as for your roms they can be placed any where you please all you have to do is run your emulator and point it to the correct folder from the settings menu

I'm planning to install Priiloader since BootMii can't be installed in my Wii as Boot2, and from what I heard, there isn't any point in installing it as IOS right now. I've got some questions:

1) I heard that it's safer to install Priiloader if you don't have any hacked IOS installed. I'm a n00b in the Wii hacking scene, so I'm not entirely sure what counts as a hacked IOS. I'm guessing those IOSes that people recommend to download and install (NOT CIOSes) in order to manually update the Wii (ie: the ones recommended in this thread) are unmodified and therefore don't count as "hacked"?

2) My firmware version is 3.3U, but I'm planning to update to 4.1 (I heard that there's no point in updating to 4.2 because it doesn't add any new functionality, and no game requires it yet). Is there any advantage in "manually" updating by installing the new IOSes and the new system menu rather than simply installing a official update from a game that has the same region as my Wii? Note that I have a chipped Wii.

3) Is there there any (safe) way to restore a NAND backup without using Boot2 BootMii?

Superdump is what i think you want. Or if you want to rip it straight to your game partition then just use any usb loader.

Okay here's a noob question: I'm trying to get the Netflix channel on my hacked (twilight hack) wii Version 4.0U. I installed thw WAD which gives me the channel but usbloader gx is supposed to run the file from a usb ready device. Now all I have to work with at the moment is a 4gb flash drive and the netflix disk is over 4gb.

Problem: I don't have enough space. wiiscrubber (scrub and trim) only got it down to about 4.1GB and the file is currently an .iso file. I would like to know what type of file it needs to be; how my flash drive should be formatted; if I need to buy a bigger flash drive or if there's a way to scrub it more.
(As a side note: I've been trying to use wbfs_file_1.5 on my newly installed Ubuntu Linux but I can't figure out what to do after making the new primary partition type "unformatted". How do I read/write data on my flash drive using linux?)

Sorry for all of the question..

But I'm quite lost at this point.. and have been trying to figure this thing out for WAY too long!
