Hey guy.

I'm having trouble getting Cave Story to work.
Every time I launch the channel my screen goes black then just sends be back to the system menu

Is their a fix?
Do I need something from the System Menu 4.2 update?

Im guessing this is a wiiware title ?? Make sure you have IOS55 installed

If you don't want to update to 4.2U, just use DOP-Mii to install the latest IOS56 (I'm pretty sure that it was IOS56, if it doesn't still work after that, update IOS55 too).

So i was trying to find information about hacking my wii to play game, homebrew, vc and wiiware. But there are too many information, old and new, and i don't know where to start.
So, here is some of my questions about my wii :
- Do i have to buy a modded chip to run homebrew, play vc and wiiware ? ( because i know that we need a modded chip to play game ) If we don't, then how, plz give me some information.
-Which kind of chip is the best right now ? ( i'm not gonna buy it right now because i'm totally broke but i still wanna know )
btw, i already update the system to 4.2

No need for a modchip, would be a waste of money.

But you will have to shell out the $10 for an SD card.

1) Nope, you just softmod it
2) Black Wiis can't read backup games from the drive in any way, so a chip is useless. And by the way, chips are outdated nonetheless, since there are software methods to load backup games if you have a Wii with a drive capable of reading backups (like the good ol' white Wiis had).
In your case you'll have to attach an external DVD USB Drive to your Wii or use an USB Hard Disk and load games from there. Or you might just change the entire Wii Drive (or just its motherboard) with an older one which supported backups, but it's not an easy task, and it might be pretty costly.

Easiest way to do it is just to download them in .WAD form and install them using a WAD Manager.

Use the search function to research Tri-Force.

And crawl before you walk.

Take small steps.

Start with the basics, then when you're feeling brave, and UNDERSTAND what you're doing, move to triiforce etc.

For WAD loading: Over *snip*, it says to reinstall some IOSes with a signature Hash check (Trucha Bug) using Dop Mii...I followed this guide and did everything it said. Do I still need to do more for WiiWare?

You just need to install WADs via a WAD Manager. Just select one IOS you trucha'd and install them from there.

Triiforce's an advanced launcher. It requires a bit of work before getting it to work.

Hey. Haven't touched my Wii in eons but I plan for MH3 and SMG2. Last thing I remember was that I had cios 14 and Neogamma R7 or R6 I think. What are the latest updates to each of these? Is there a new Cios REV? Sorry been out of the loop! =P

Ya cIOSX Rev19 and Neogamma R9.

Hermes cIOS ( use v4 )

Install 202 - IOS38 merged with IOS60

Install 222 - IOS38 merged with IOS37

Install 223 - IOS38

for cIOSX you have to use base 38 to install wads. all others wont work.

Quick question. before i run NandClean how do i uninstall the priiloader or is the priiloader installed on the Nand?

at this part of the virginizing guide it says
If you have cIOSCORP/DARKCORP -> Run the DARKCORP uninstaller (it can be found in the same pack as DARKCORP)

2) If you don't have cIOSCORP/DARKCORP, you will need to do a complete update. You can find the instructions to do this here.
There are however 4 small differences:

* Allow the NUS Auto downloader to download stubs, and of course install them.
* Skip step 6 completely (so do not move the wads)
* In step 7, also install the IOS and System menu.
* Skip step 8 as well (yay thats the longest step biggrin.gif)

i have both priiloader and Darkcorp installed so do i uninstall darkcorp then update through official update then run Nandclean?

now i have other problem, i install wad manager ( because i want to try wiiware and vc first) along with cIOS rev19
and I have trouble with either error -1 or error -1029, but then i saw another thread about switch to ISO250 with wad38 will help running the wad manager
and it did, but after install the first wiiware wad successful, i then exit the program to play the new wiiware and when i come back to wad manager (still using ISO250 with wad38) it has the error -1 again (ds card error)
so please help me if anybody have some suggestion that can fix the problem ( it took me about 5 hours today just to figure out how to work it right )
btw, i'm install and swithcing the cISO a couple of times, install the Hermes cIOS and some other homebrew ( mostly trying to play wiiware and vc), so is there any chances those things are not compatible with other and brick my wii ?

I want to install the homebrew browser but I am currently not connected to the internet. if I create a connection, will I have to automatically update? or is there a way i can set up a connection without updating?

Hi there. I recently softmodded my (black) Wii after following a softmod guide. Worked great, I had back-ups running smoothing via USB loader or Neo Gamma. Just the other day I got Monster Hunter Tri and couldn't get it working via USB. After reading through a lot of posts on people with the same problem I finally got it working by updating to cIOS r19. Great! However now, several older games (DK Jungle Beat and Punch-out) don't load at all, just a black screen. If I can't have both MH3 AND my older games working, I'd rather go back to what I had before. Trouble is I can't seem to do it! Any advice on what set-up I should go back to. I tried installing cIOS r17 over r19 but still couldn't get it going. Is there any way I can go back to what I had before, even if it means totally wiping the softmod (if possible) and doing it all over again from scratch. Thanks in advance!

Edit: Never mind, got it working. WiiFlow and NeoGamma gave me the black screen however older version of USB Loader GX fixed everything

When you set up the connection it will automatically do a connections test. When it passes, it will ASK if you want to update. You can just answer No and cancel the update. If I recall, there is also a StartPatch tweak which lets you ignore the connection test.
