Priiloader can save from banner bricks and apply temporary patches to the system menu. It can also force the System Menu to load from an IOS other than the default one.

I guess I should rephrase and ask does Priloader run transparently? eg right now w/cIOS I set up Wii so it just boots up normally, and if I wish to play from backups, I load the HBC myself, and run the loader myself, etc.

Generally the Priiloader menu only comes up if you hold Reset when booting the Wii.

preloader / priiloader run every single time you start the wii, return to the system menu, even when you turn off the wii while a game or channel is running. most of the time you dont see it, but it still runs EVERY time the system menu is supposed to run. this means that there are lots of little decisions about what the user is trying to do. sometimes people have messed up settings and expect preloader to do something and it doesnt something else. thats when they get annoyed and want to uninstall it.

1) WiiWare/VC games only need HBC + wad-installer, right ?

2) I have Wanin's rev17 - 249 @ IOS38 .. does that mean I can freely install .wad's using wad-manager ? or is there some better software atm to install .wad's ?

3) after installing they come up as separate channel each ? to uninstall requires only to delete the channel via Wii menu ? nothing more ? both for WiiWare & VC ?

Alright I followed this guide and got Wiiflow running. I played Zelda TP and Mario Kart all works great cool.
But during the process I selected wrong IOS at DOP-MII and broke my HBC. I formatted wii from system menu and used banner bomb again. It worked as I said I got Wiiflow running.

Now when I insert Wii Sports Resort disc (an original disc it was a black bundle) it asks for an update.
What should I do now to play Sports Resort? Will going ahead with disc update brick my wii or simply remove all the homebrew? Can I use NUS downloader to get the update? If so which app on wii actually installs it?

edit: Oh and my wii was already on 4.2E out of box

Thanks but what about the update is it not necessary for game to work properly?
Also, Wiibrew wiki says Priiloader should not be installed on wiis with modified IOSs?

no you will be able to install priiloader. and also what moidified IOS's do you have installed ( DARKCORP ? ).

no you will be able to install priiloader. and also what moidified IOS's do you have installed ( DARKCORP ? ).

Well none actually I've just restored trucha bug, removed stub IOSs, installed a cIOS.
Oh and another stupid question is there a harm of using shop channel at this stage? Say for getting Internet Channel?

He said the menu doesn't come up, he didn't say it didn't run.

NeoGamma says the problem: You don't have any cIOS (Cutom IOS)

Download cIOSX rev19 installer, and run the installer and install cIOS249 rev19 with the installer's default options.

Just go to "Wii Settings" and it will appear in the top right corner.

Hmm...I downloaded cIOSx rev19 installer. Now, below the download links, there's a mesage: "Base WADs are the same as for rev18; can be found on det1re.de". I went to the aforementioned site and found the wads. Which one do I download? There are many. And before this, do I have to do anything else? Any IOS related work or up/downgrading the firmware? Patching IOS 36 (or 35 in my case) like it says in this guide? All I've done so far on my Wii is step 2 and 6 from the aforementioned guide.

Is your Wii connected to internet via wifi?

If so, then you don't need to download any wads as the installer can do that for you.

If your Wii doesn't have internet access, download IOS57-64-v5661.wad and place it on the root of your SD card.

The run the installer and select:
"Select IOS to use during installation": IOS36
"Select base wad for installation": IOS57 v5661

Since your system hasn't ben updated in a while, you shouldn't need to use TBR unless you update everything.
