Third part is not happening, that would require them to actually put in effort.

That being said this is the sort of announcement we might actually get, I don't expect anything big like the next mainline Zelda game, they seem to save big announcements for their June direct (and sometimes their February direct). But a remake of a beloved 2D game seems right for an anniversary direct.

I just know not to get my hopes up because anniversary directs have been such a disappointment lately. So I won't hope for anything.

I want to not be disapointed by what they show of the Zelda movie.

The preview shots they've shared look really bad to me, like a fan made effort, or IGN April Fools from 2010 or something. It just feels off.

It's too late for an announcement of a mainline game, I think the OOT remake will make up the majority of the direct. Some limited Zelda-themed DLC for other titles maybe. And maybe a Zelda-themed Switch.

Oh man, it's just a few hours before the reveal. I'm hoping it's not 1:1 remake. And they add Link a jump ability to make things different. Also, free cam probably, retain the Z targeting but make it better I guess. Make epona better, give it the BOTW treatment.

It's too late for the game to launch by the end of the year / on time for the 40th anniversary. Announcements for mainline titles usually start well in advance so if there was a major title in the works we would know already. And announcing the game that won't be part of the anniversary releases would be counterproductive because it would overshadow any other content they're trying to show now. The announcement of the next Zelda title will have its own Direct to generate more hype.
