OK, I think I know what my confusion was last time. I updated the Wii to 4.2 before starting. When going through "the basics" on the softmod guide, the last step is "Update". But if I'm already on 4.2, I have no need to undertake any of these steps, right?

Update steps are optional, so yeah you can skip them

What are you trying to do, anyway? Don't mess with settings.txt, it's not a good idea. Leave it be.

OK, mission almost accomplished. I have Wiiflow running from the HD. Just one more question. Must an SD card always be present in the wii for wiiflow to run? I have a forwarder installed, so wii flow appears as a channel, but can it be run without the SD card being present?

You have to have an actual channel that's not a forwarder. You can modify the forwarder wad with customizemii by inserting the Wiiflow dol file

I followed the 4.2 guide that was stickied. Everything worked well. I than accidental deleted all the files off the SD card I used and cannot access any homebrew.
What files should I put on the card, now?

Copy everything back from the archive that was emailed to you by the guide.

Okay, I need some help. I cannot get Monster Hunter Tri to run. I get to the main menu, select New Game and I get the buzzing sound.

I'm on 4.2e at the moment. I have installed cIOSxrev19 with IOS249 as installing IOS and IOS37 as base.

I am using the latest NeoGamma, R9 Beta 8. (At the bottom of NeoGamma it says cIOS38rev19 slot 249, could this mean anything?)

So, what is the solution? Anyone know? Cheers.

Hi, i'm hoping on someone helping me here please... I am currently on 3.2e and have the homebrew channel installed and have starfall installed. I want to upgrade my system with the excellent guide from XZXERO http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=171901 and have been advised to disable starfalls hacks before trying to update incase it blocks or conflicts with the process. I can't work out how to even access the starfall menu i think iv'e forgotten! I've looked on google and can't see any advice, all i can find is advice how to install it. Please any help would be appreciated, i really want to hack this wii but don't want to start without disabling starfall incase of potential problems. Thanks

"Start rescue-menu when Y is held on 1st GC controller "

...could it mean you enable the menu by holding down the Y button while the menu is booting?
