Hey guys,

Need some advice about the 4.2 update. I've got my wii running at 4.1, Europe region. It has a softmod on it, ain't using bootmii or preloader. Had some problems with preloader, it gave me a black screen with 4.1(EUR) on boot after installing it (version 0.29). Is that because of a bad IOS60?

Now, i'd like to update to 4.2. I've read a dozen of threads about the update, but need to know something for sure. Also, what is the latest and most reliable hacked update pack?

I'm using Homebrew 1.03 right now, it will be gone after updating to 4.2 right?
So i need the update, 1.05. Where can i find it, and should i install it before or after updating to 4.2?

And last, i'm not using preloader right now. Can i install it after the update to 4.2? I'm not into Bootmii so i just want to use preloader as backup.

Can anyone help me? :] Would be great.

Regards,
Jochem

How can i uninstall cIOS37? it's needed to install WiiWare wads like: onslaught, world of goo, pokemon rumble and art style orbient..
Found this out by getting the error code ret= -1029 in WAD manager 1.5.
I have installed waninkoko's cIOS38 rev 16 and Hermes cIOS latest version (no idea what version that is)

Hello, i just got Rock Band 2 and i am having trouble booting it through the Wii Disk Channel. I can boot it just fine with Wiigators Backup Launcher Gamma 0.3 and my instruments work fine as well. Though when i try and boot the original retail Rock Band 2 disk through the disk channel all i get is a black screen.

Im still on 3.2U NTSC Wii. I have bootmii installed as boot2, and i dont really want to mess with cioscorp or preloader.

I have the cios' installed for the configurable USB loader, Wiigators Gamma 0.3 and cios37 rev3 is what i can recall off the top of my head.

I suppose the main reason i need to load through the Disk channel is that i want to try DLC stuff and Rock Band Customs and i think most of the methods require loading through the disk channel.

Please Help.

Hi to all and happy holidays!

I am new to the Wii scene and would like to ask for some inputs. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I purchased a modded JAP Nintendo Wii few days ago. I can play all games included on the bundle... I have few questions though.

1. Stuck with JAP language. What's the best tool to use? (Anyregion changer and then change language settings from there?)
2. After reading several posts, I found out that my unit is semi bricked. Wii settings not accessible.
(Maybe I played a game... I clicked on something... It updated to wrong region... coz i remebered one time it restarted before being able to play the game)
2.1 Can i also use anyregion changer or better to use ISO discs to resolve my semi bricked wii?
2.2 How can i check my current firmware if I cannot access my Wii settings?
3. Is there a way to check what mod and how was it done on my Wii?
I assume it's a softmod but I don't want assumptions especially dealing with technical stuff.
Is there a way to check or confirm the kind of mod performed?

Thanks a lot and more power to GBAtemp for a great forum!

Hello.

Just got a Korean converted to English modded Wii. I want to ask if there's any way of knowing what mod applications installed in my Wii? Bought my Wii from my uncle which they purchased early this year, so I want to check if I need to update any thing (like cIOS you people are talking about.)

Sorry, I'm new to this. Unfortunately though our TV broke, my father was able to borrow a second hand one from a relative but we will not be to able to get the TV until tomorrow (hopefully). I just want to be prepared on what to do, etc. Any info and tips are appreciated.

Hi, I´m trying to use waninko savegame manager.

Hi, I am one of those unlucky souls that suffers from the reflex effect, and got this save which is called RJAP.ZIP.

I have figured out to download waninko savegame manager into the sd:\apps, but I have no idea where to put the RJAP folder? Or it contents.

Any1?

Hi all,
happy holidays and thanks for the fantastic work you are doing.
So here is my noob introduction:
I used to have a sofmodded wii (4.1E) and used to use backup launcher 0.3 to lunch dvd backup copies, but now the modern games do not work anymore so it was time to update.
I think that my first mystake was to update HBC, I knew I had to stick to the "don't update something that works" rule but I thought that neogamma needed the new HBC to work (Yes, I am a noob....).
Anyway I followed the guide by Deviyl to patch the new ios, add preloader and install neogamma since I already have HBC and bootmii as ios (and a NAND backup...). Now I can play the new games (tnx!) BUT:
When Preloader(0.29) loads it says a new update is available but if I try to install a get an error because I have system menu v450 (and IOS is v60). So now the autoboot doesn't work and I cannot access HBC fron preloader, I can only go to system menu, and the hackmii files do not work (no hack available for system menu v450). So it's like not having preloader in case of a brick...

Here my noob questions:
1) Should I format my sd and start fron scratch?
2) Can I replace the new HBC files in the Sd with the old ones (I have a copy of my Sd before the HBC update), keep neogamma and preloader 0.29? I guess not...
3) Other suggestions? The best would be a way to change system menu from 450 to anything prealoder 0.30 works with without doing the hacking process again...

thanks in advance

If nothing went wrong already, nothing will.
Removing stub IOS is never bad anyway.

Sorry, but there's no real app that can tell you whats installed.
But the only things that can be installed are:
1) Titles (You can use AnyTitle Deleter to list those, just don't delete anything)
2) Preloader or startpatch
3) Bootmii

Dump your current save on your wii with that app
then replace that save with the new one

So the hackmii installer doesn't work? Even from bannerbomb ?
I would try to re-install the HBC first.

Preloader works with any system menu, but there are only hacks for specific versions (3.2, 4.0,4.1 and 4.2).
To use these hacks, you must place a hacks.ini in the root of your SD card (with the hacks for your system menu version).

tj_cool tnx for your answer but I'm too noob to understand it...

preloader (0.29) works (in the sense that it loads when I turn on my wii) but I cannot set it to boot directly to HBC (I have HBC 1.0.6, IOS 61 v19.26) nor I can access HBC from preloader (error autobooting. Maybe title not installed?), I can only load the system menu. From there I can access HCB, neogamma, etc, but I guess that in case of a brick I woul'd be able to acces the bootmii menu and the NAND backup.

In the preloader screen I see system menu v450 and IOS v.60. It says there is an important update but fails to install it, which is the only thing I would like to do...

the hackmii file is the root, I'll check which version it is.

Yeah I think I already know the problem
The titleID of the HBC got updated (since system menu 4.2 blocks the old ID)
And preloader 0.29 doesn't know that new ID.

So you have some choices:
1) Install the newest HBC, and install this
2) Update preloader (by downloading the new installer from wiibrew.org, online update is broken)

thanks tj! I did option 1 and now almost everything works (yes I was also running the wrong hackmii version...).

BUT
I set prealoder to boot fromn the boot.dol file in that topic in order not to have 2 HBC channels but I got somethind wrong in the preloader option and now I can't get to the wii menu anymore. If I press the home button from HBC and select system menu i go back to HBC, not the wii menu. How do I access the preloader settings?
Hold the reset button while the wii boots and you should see preloader

You probably set something wrong in the settings (like "return to: preloader")

I have just got a 4.1E new wii (the black one) and I'm wondering if it would be better to upgrade to 4.2 then softmod or softmod it without updating.

tnx. The answer was in the preloader guide, and yes I had set return to: preloader.

So now I can boot to HBC but not access it from the preloader menu (same error as before), but I can live with that I guess...

Now I can update to version 0.30 or not?

Hi guys,
