Hi,

I have 3 little questions, is there still any 4.1 Safe Updater ? and is the safe updater is automatic or do i have to install all IOS one by one ?

And my last question is, is there some kind of list of IOS i should install by my self on a wii? i mean maybe a list of ALL IOSes the Wii use to work .. for play all games .. with a softmod then

Thank You

Alright, I guess a minorly nooby question here. My Wii is not letting me install the HBC .6 for some reason... Says no known vulnerable IOS. Hmmm... Well, I have it on my Wii already, but I'm worried about if something messes up and I need a newer version. Check the sig for stats. Used the "simple" tutorial stickied here in the Wii hacking place.
Your problem is cIOSCORP. What you need to do is use DOP-IOS MOD to install the latest IOS36

Ugh so overcluttered. Anyway, I tried using DOP-IOS MOD, but I may have done something wrong. cIOSCORP still works, but still can't install HBC... What IOS do I use initially, and what parts do I install? Everything it asks, or just the update? (on 4.1 by the way)

HBC requires a clean IOS. You should install a clean IOS35 or IOS61 with no signature hash check.

If you follow the posted guide, 4.2 is just fine. You don't want to blindly update to it, but then, if you are a modder you know not to blindly update to thinks. But I and many run 4.2 with no issues at all, following the posted guide.

Hey there guys, your work here is amazing, and I'm about to delve into the world of wii softmodding, but I have one simple question before i give it a go..... I've read up on copying the files onto my SD card, but I can't work out if you need to have you SD card in AFTER you install everything - the reason I ask is because i have a 4GB card i want to NAND backup onto, but my fricken card reader won't recognise it, but the Wii will. I have a 512MB card I could use to install everything onto the wii, but if bootmii is installed via the HBC, does this mean i could conceivably put the larger card in and copy a NAND backup onto the 4GB card, essentially removing the need to me to even use the card reader, while still having a backup for the occasion if things go wrong? Cheers!

I have installed cIOS 38 rev15, latest hermes and usb loader gx. I wonder if i need to add usb 2.0 support because when i put a gamedisc in and copy it in usb loader gx (i have a wiikey) the speed reaches 1.4mb/s at most, is this normal? do i need anything else?

Anyone fancy telling me best way to get new Shop Updates so I can get BBC Iplayer but stay on 4.1E, I assume it's WiiSCU but that seems an overly complicated process in itself (Or did I read it wrong)?

Hi,

I'm softmodding a black wii with FW 4.1E

I'm trying to restore the trucha bug, but there i have a problem allready.

I'm following this guide: http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/hacking-guide/trucha

At the online section, point 4 i have to install the patched IOS36, download from NUS.
I get an error at this point.
TBR says:

initializing network... net_init failed: -116
error reading IOS into memory
IOS 36 install failed.

What is wrong here?
Why can't my wii make a connection?
The first step in the guide was ok, downgrade IOS15 (from NUS !) was succesfull so my wifi was ok at this point.

Thanks

Hello all.

My wii is currently 3.1U with Wiikey, and i want to play wii sports resort and NSMB. I tried looking at the tutorials, but there is so much stuff I don't know about, so many names and IOS...

So if anyone can show me a topic about what i have to do, or at least tell me what i should do first to get started, i would be very happy =]

I am halfway through my first softmod using this tutorial which has been awesome. I would like to learn the appropriate USB loader techniques but I can't seem to find a proper tutorial or FAQ. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Nice to see a welcome spot for noobs...
im fresh.. with a fresh wii. its currnetly on 3.4
all i want is USB loader GX, and want the internet channels(wii shop, forcast, etc) open , i have read a lot.. maybe too much, which has contradicted itself.. here's my plan an what i understand.

1) hack, im on 3.4 so the twight hack wont work (well reset after everyboot) so i should use Bannerbomb?
2) install the Homebrew channel
3) Install USB Loader GX (and the WAD thing)
4) Forward the USB loader to the 'front page'

is there anything im missing? Hackwii installer, etc?

My Wii is 3.2U

Man, I must be a super-noob...

Questions:
  • Will normal store bought games play without having to undo/uninstall hacks? Will they perform as usual?
  • Apparently it is best to get the latest firmware update before softmodding. How/where do I do/get that?
  • According N, "updating to Wii Menu version 4.2 will check for and automatically remove such unauthorized files". Will this effect the softmod?
Thanks in advance! You guys are awesome!

follow the modify 4.2 steps but miss out the deleting stub IOS's as you'll not have them (you might need a different bannerbomb version)
