Can I make softmod on console, where is WiiKey? I mine, is there any danger, that i am doing softmod after WiiKey?
Thanks in advance!
softmods have nothing to do with modchips.

ndhrty said:hey,
i'm attempting a mod on virgin wii 4.2U. have done alot of reading, but i have a question about boot2. It gave me the option to install it through bannerbomb and did so successfully. when i reboot the blue wii slot flickers as described, but i've only been able to get scrolling eligible text or a black screen. i can't seem to get boot2 to load to let me do a nand backup. any suggestions?
i had an sd card that wasn't being picked up at all, and switched to one that is at least giving me something (flickering text) I have been able to load wadmanager1.4 through boot2 (turn on console, text flickers, and then boots up wadmangr) which is the next step in the guide i'm following.
if i continue with the process will it eventually make the boot2 work, or should i just scrap it and start over installing bootmii ios. i have successfully removed ios249 stub and installed cios38rev14, will i mess anything up by just reloading bannerbomb and starting over?
thanks for the help...

ndhrty said:thanks for the response!
i tried to reinstall boot2 bootmii, and again it said the installation was successful and gave me the option to uninstall on later visits.
it still wouldn't load... to complicate things, i continued with the installation process, since everything else was installing ok, etc. but neither the neogamma or usbloader are working...
i'm thinking i need to restart everything, question is, can i go back into bannerbomb and redo everything, (ensuring i get bootmii to function this time). i read somewhere that once the ios' have been installed/uninstalled you have to reformat the wii system memory to start over, more importantly to get a good nand backup....is this true? any suggestions/help on where to go from here?

ndhrty said:ok! i used the guide from wiihacks for v4.2, which is supplemented with amarokz guide.
i have goen through steps up to and including hermes cios. i used wadmanager to unistall neogamma, usb loader etc. everything said it installed succesfully
(only exception is that there was never an option to choose 'do not reload ios' during cIOS38 rev 14 step, and never got boot2 to load properly, or nand backup)
thanks again, i really appreciate the help on this one...

ndhrty said:no, crap i should have realized there would be more 4.2 guides!
although, i have looked at that one... i used 'From Virgin 4.2E to Softmod, here is how I did it...' from wiihacks http://www.wiihacks.com/general-homebrew-h...-how-i-did.html
and the amarokz guide v1.1 http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?jhwzt4dyjt3
sorry for the lack of detail in the last post...

ndhrty said:yes, sorry, the password is: Amarokz.
i'm all for trying another guide, thanks for the suggestion... do I need to restore the wii memory, to reset all the ios', and provide a good nand to backup, or can i just start it over?

ndhrty said:i will give it a try right now then! will you be around for a little longer? it's too bad the site doesn't support a chat option...
it does say at the start of the guide that... 'i actually recommend to update via Nintendo to get to a virgin 4.2', no worries though?

dude i fuckin helped you hack your wii now you want to virginize it?@#$%%^^&*()_)(*&^%$#@Droskies said:is there any possible way to turn my wii back to normall (virgin)?????
