thanks but i wanna try and avoid the softmii package as a few of the packages like preloader are old versions.

i know i have to grab the cIOScorp from the softmii package as i cant find it anywhere else but when would be the best time to install it. likewise with preloader and if i would like the option to recover from possible future bricks would i need to take a whole nand backup?

thanks.

i havent downloaded and installed it yet so am not too sure what it does. does it restore your wii without the need to make a abckup of the nand?

newer cIOS versions will overwrite older ones with no problem, so give it a try

preloader is able to load itself before the system menu loads, so thats how it can recover the wii from a brick (brick = unable to use system menu, or part of it)
It allows you to boot the Homebrew channel directly so you can do everything to unbrick it
Creating a backup of the NAND is not needed (you can find the files online too), but its always usefull

QUOTE(mastergatuno @ Apr 6 2009, 07:27 PM) cIOS36 rev9 can only be installed on Wii 4.0?
I try installing it on my 3.2U Wii but I receive Error=-1 on the #07 patch. It doesn't even download it.
Maybe try wad installation?
you need to put a IOS36-64-v1042.wad in the root of the sd card
(not allowed here, so google it)

Thats where we have this topic for, don't we
smile.gif

The unbricking apps change with the kind of brick you have
If you ever brick, just ask here again and we'll say what you need to have on your sd card and what to do
many times, the wad manager or any region changer are used

I have a question about the backup launcher.

I just got Guitar Hero Metallica the other day, burned it onto a DVD-R using ImgBurn and tried to load it with gamma loader 0.3.

The game starts up and continues until the very first loading screen, after the wii controller warning. It loads nearly all the way and then stops and gives this warning: "The Game Disc could not be read. Refer to the Wii operations manual for details".

Since then I have tried several different versions of the game and tried burning each version multiple times, but I still get the same error. I've also tried loading with softchip and gamma with the 002 fix. I also tried installing cIOS rev7, and IOS 38, 53, 55, none fixed the problem.

I'm running Wii 3.2U
cIOS rev9
Gamma Loader 0.3 with 002 fix (both the .dol and wad version)

Does anyone have a similar problem or a solution for me? I'd appreciate any help

EDIT: Verbatim finally failed me. So I tried a different dvd brand. But at least it works now.

With so much stuff on USB Loader CIOS's and 4.0 I thought I should ask here instead.

I was on 3.2 w/Softmii/Cioscorps/Preloader
I updated w/4.0 Firmware tool w/Preloader 0.29,
so my questions are....

1.) what must I do to get the SD Menu to recognize my custom channels?
2.) StarPatch cant find some of the patches, should I just wait for NTSC preloader hacks?
3.) Can I reinstall cIOSCORPS to play backups from the Disc Channel?

thanks to anyone who will help me out....

OneLeggedJack

EDIT: just tried a different channel and it works great, but I still dont know about the other 2 ?'s

@SylverReZ find me ONE community that is free of drama and politics. even video games forums (like this one) have politics section. and for some reason gamers still take consoles/brands wars seriously. even as a kid i never took the console wars bait despite being a nintendo kid.
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
one of the reasons i deleted all my social media accounts, reddit account (although i was rarely using it) etc was to get away from this shit.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Vetusomaru, Sadly, not all communities like to play nice. Forums are pretty much dying despite Discord amongst other social media being available.
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
i only kept my twitter accounts and only because many of the artists i like share their art only/mostly at twitter.
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
lots of discord groups (even the big ones) are also dead for some reason.

    Twitter is way too shittier.
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
that's why i added some firefox addons to block shit like twitter trends.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Discord, on the other hand, moderation tends to not be very nice in video game communities from what I had experienced.
