It depends what goes wrong. If, for example, you lose your softmods because you do something stupid like updating past 4.1 and the HBC stops working (for whatever reason), you would need an exploitable game like SSBB to resoftmod. This is very unlikely to happen though, since Priiloader blocks updates and you would have to manually update to 4.2 or higher (an even stupider thing to do) and something like IOS58/61 getting corrupted would have to happen at the same time.Morien said:I live in a country where the Wii was never officially sold, and as such all the games are pirated and available consoles all tend to be pre-chipped and the price the Wii was at launch.
I'm heading back to Australia for a visit in a few weeks, and after which, I will bring my Wii back with me, but have no intention of chipping it, only softmodding. I don't plan on bringing any of the physical media back with me either, only the portable hdd.
But if something goes awry when I'm back here and I need to reuse Modmii to clean it up (go through the process again as a Virgin wii), do I need my copy of Super Smash Brothers again?
I figured it would be a new one. If you know what you are doing, I recommend downgrading to 4.1 (perhaps using the custom system menu from Softmod ANY Wii which prevents updates), but if you are a newbie at the softmodding process, you might want to leave it where it is at. When you softmod it, there are two guides I'd recommend you choose from:Morien said:Great. It is a black Wii, so I'm supposing it will already have beyond 4.1 (4.3 perhaps), but having had a chipped launch wii in the past, I know all about avoiding updates.
Thanks

ModMii: An easy and fast softmod that covers all the basics. Excellent choice for your average user.
Softmod ANY Wii: Adds just about every method of brick protection possible (perfect for paranoid people), but takes longer to do.

I was going to go with Modmii, but I'm happy to go through a slightly longer process if it means a more thorough/somehow better mod.
The 'Softmod ANY Wii' guide: I assume you are referring to this one?
Thanks
It covers all the basics and is easier/shorter, but it doesn't have everything. It's up to the OP to decide.Morien said:Go with Modmii. Yes, that is the one.

Lol, if you hear an opinion on ModMii from the maker of ModMii, you know it's got to be unbiased!XFlak said:pshhh, says you!JoostinOnline said:It covers all the basics and is easier/shorter, but it doesn't have everything. It's up to the OP to decide.![]()

That will work since it is a PAL version.Spongeroberto said:4.3E Wii, trying to use an exploit game to get hacking started.
Will any version of Lego Batman work? I can borrow a German version from a friend of mine.
