Hi,

i'm resending this problem because it's a bit different that what i wrote at the beggining: my cousin's wii got a problem when i softmodded this one, all was OK but when he play a game, at one point it's freezing and then the screen is black and he cannot do anything with his wii and then he must unplug his wii, he don't even can power off the Wii .. he have a 3.3U Wii with Neogamma R8 Beta15 in it .. Waninkoko cIOS rev14 .. that's THIS particular game, but the game is working on my sister's Wii he played through it on my sister's wii and it worked, but on his, it does crash .. then, i trucha is IOS36 but it didn't change anything .. so what could be the problem ? i thought it could be the game itself but it don't crash on my sister's wii so it couldn't be that ..

Edit: he tried my sister's backup of the same game and it didn't worked neither on his wii, but it's working on my sis wii ..

Thank You

I was given a guide to this(havent posted links as im not sure im allowed.) after a problem i was sent to a second guide, using the second guide While using bootmii to downgrade my IOS035 im getthing this error: "es_addtitlefinish returned - 1017!"

is there a way to fix this? I believe i need to restore the IOS files i played around with the first time i tried to do this, is there a way to do that?

Hello. I'm getting Wii in next few days. This will be my first time modding Wii.
Greatly appreciated if you can answer some of my questions.

1. Reading forums, firmware upgrade is done via connecting to online and connecting online means updating firmware.. am I right? I want to play Wii online. What is my option?
Softmod?(Which I believe its impossible at the moment.. possible in future? or was it that 4.2 is possible but people suggest 4.1 for region free?)
Hardmod?(If so, please provide me which kind is needed.)

2. Is there any advice I need for getting a new Wii system? (IE. Imcompatible drive/issues for certain models or whatnot)

3. It seems I'm buying Wii at wrong time or waited too long... how is scene doing vs nintendo updates? slowly blocking every softmod method?

thanks in advance.

Goal - Retitle-code NSMBW so that I can have different copies of the same game at the same time.

Currently, I have one patched version of NSMBW. I'd like to copy it and then rename its game ID code so that I can load the copy onto the USB drive in addition to the original. This is in preparation of the romhacks. I'd prefer to use a program that doesn't actually install anything.

In a similar vein as the last question;

I've run through xzxero's guide to softmodding, and the Wii Shop Channel is still not functioning. Is there a separate update for this? Is the method mentioned just above the same method needed for hacked 4.2U wii?

Thanks for the reply!!! I'm sorry, I have a couple more questions.

- I looked around at guides and I'm seeing that most of them tell me to patch to IOS249 and install cIOS (which modify the IOS files). From what I read, IOS249 and cIOS are safe to use and that they're not the same as cioscorp, right? So the chances of me bricking my system/running into problems is slim, if I follow instructions properly? I also assume that if patching IOS249 and cIOS is safe, so is applying the trucha bug restorer? (I'm sorry, i'm a bit paranoid and a few of my friends want me to help them do a softmod too)
- Are there different ways to update/install IOS249 and cIOS depending on whether the system has a modchip or not?
- Also, is there a difference between 4.2 and 4.2U (or is 4.2 a generalization of 4.2_, where _ is any letter)? Would I have to look for guides specifically for 4.2U if my system is at 4.2U?

Thanks in advance.
its ok. better ask than brick in the end. ios249 is a very useful cios which allows us to use many homebrew apps, including usb backup loading. you should first restore the bug which they call trucha into your system so that you can use that patched ios to install custom ios (cios). waninkoko's cios installs at slots 249, and 250, if my memory is right. you usually see his installer as cIOS38revXX; on older revisions as cIOS36revXX.

if you want to use the disc channel for loading backup games and don't want to buy a modchip, then you will need cioscorp which modifies most of the ios inside your wii nand...thus more risk of brick. but following installation instructions correctly, i don't see any reason why you will brick at all; unless the wii's power is cut off during installation of cioscorp.

yes you are right. 4.2 is just a generalization of 4.2X (4.2J; 4.2U; etc.)
if you are at 4.2 then you may follow guides in the stickies or this: http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/ha.../trucha-bug-4-2
if you are at 4.1 and bellow then you could follow this: http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/hacking-guide/trucha
if you are going to ask the author of those guides on the links, then the authors are xzxero and the rest of the tut makers here at the temp.

SD card requirement ...

Hi,

I read that I must use SD card instead of SDHC card to perform soft-modding ...

Is this a must?

Because SD card is only 2 GB and cost 10 euro here, while SDHC 4 GB card cost a bit more (12 - 15 euro) ...

If SDHC is also OK, it would be a better investment ...

Please let me know, thanks

hi @ all,
if have a problem with the multi boot iso for the ngc.
but first my system: wii 4.1E, latest mios, latest cios, backup loader gx, --> acutally evrything works fine except:
the multi boot iso (2500+ roms) doesnt work properly. i can see the menu after starting it with the gc loader, however even though i click on load rom, it doest do anything.. i can still press other buttons so it is not freezed, but i cant acutally run roms. as nobody could help me with that i was looking for another method to play these roms.
now my question: is it possible to extract the roms from that .iso file(it is a ngc .iso file), then put them back on a data dvd and load the games via the homebrew channel (snes emulator etc.) ?.. my problem is, i cant "get" into the dvd as it is a special format i guess. is there aprogram for this? to open the .iso file and extract the roms?

i hope u can help me and i hope i am in the right section with my question..

cheers qrawler

look for wiiscrubber.

I -have- Wii Scrubber (1.4) and it has no option to allow me to change the SMNE01 to another tag. I need more information than that in order to do this.

ive installed the HBC and neogamma on my wii before, it didnt work perfect with all games but it went well enough for now.

the foles are now all outdated and i want to follow xzxero guide and get everything updated. will i run into any problems since i already have some of the files installed? also is there an easy way to just reset everything on the wii and start fresh or is that a very bad idea?

thanks for the help.

with NUS Downloader it's not written which IOS goes for which System Menu .. yes the "main IOS" is written like IOS60 for System Menu 4.1 but i want to know ALL of them ..
