Misc No Wi-Fi at College but Network Card doesn't support Hosted Networks

Is there some kind of external USB Wi-Fi network card device that I could potentially use instead?

For example, Connectify recommends this adapter:

Would this work given that the network card in my laptop doesn't support a hosted network?

yeah if it allows you to use wifi functions you're ready to go

Here's the deal, I already have a USB Wifi connector like that and Connectify detects it and everything, but I keep getting this error that says that Microsoft Hosted Network is not available. For example, look at this post:

I'm just hopelessly lost and I can't figure out why using that USB Wifi connector won't work either.

What he said. You can buy a router that plugs into the Ethernet port and using that router it can transmit a WiFi signal.

And if your not supposed to have wireless routers at college, set the mac address on the routers WAN port to be the same as your laptops mac address and it will happily work. (That's presuming you have to register your devices via mac address at your college, if not it should just work).

Either way a cheap wireless router is what you require and will do exactly what you want.
