Hey there,

I've followed the project for some time now and signed up to say something.
FIX94 and crediar:

Once nintendont is finished or at least at status, where it only gets rarely updates and everybody's using a USB loader to load nintendont and has therefore autoboot enabled, it would certainly be nice to display something else than the "Loading patched kernel etc."-strings when the kernel loads. I have a suggestion what to display:

In my opinion it would look awesome, if you could display this, while the kernel is loading:

This animation is actually included in the ipl.bin, which most users already have on the root of their USB/SD. The problem is: Unlike the font, this animation is encrypted in the ipl, so most likely some RE would have to be done...
Fortunately though, at some work already has been done in this project:

https://code.google.com/p/gc-ipl/

Unfortunately the guys stopped this project, before they reverse engineered the animation part, but (I'm not sure) they might at least broke the decryption:

https://code.google.com/p/gc-ipl/wiki/Descrambler

I don't know how much work it would be to implement this and since this would be only a cosmetic change its priority can't be any lower at this point. But what do you guys think about this? Do you like this idea? Would it be in your opinion worth the time to implement it? Is it even possible to do this?

It'd be neat to see the IPL booting in Nintendont (and handy for managing memory cards too, if that's even possible), but at this stage in the project's life, it's way too early to request mostly superficial things, when a lot of games are still not working at all. Maybe bring it up again in like 6 months or something once a lot more games are playing. Of course, I can't speak for the devs, but that's my guess as to the type of replies you'll get.

Considering that even at the early stages when choosing a splash screen Crediar asked that none of the submitted projects should include copyrighted images or anything that could be related directly to Nintendo; maybe using this would be a bit too much for the project. It would be different if they made it so that nintendont used the animation directly from the ipl.bin as only those that ripped the bios should have it.

That's just my opinion at this time, I might be wrong or thinking the wrong way about it.

Edit: Also, I think the info screen that's shown at this time is still (and will always be) useful to show the status of the booting process and if there are any errors at some point. Though, to be fair, maybe there could still be a way to show some error in screen after the animation if the booting failed.

Sorry for quoting you so many times, but this is the last time, because I've tested the Shadow The Hedgehog cache... and it works :) !
I've only test level 1, the load time was fast, and it has fast boot too, daxtsu can you add this file to your Nintendont caches page? Thank you!

The game ID is GUPE8P, NTSC

There might not be anything to do at all, remember this post by Maxternal?

If the kernel crashes, then there's not really much that could be done..

How about hack that auto-resets when the kernel crashes?

No worries! Did the save file I gave you work? Also, did you try out the cheats to see if it enabled the Full library?

Every game freezes or blackscreens for me using r75 and r76 guess im stuck on r72 for now. Edit= Got resident evil and brawl to work but most games are broken for me.

Sorry about that, I couldn't test the cheats, the save file however it works!, I don't know how to put cheats, I know I need to put in the game folder GUPE8P.gct and then in Nintendont enable Cheats, I'm right?

Um... that's kinda interesting ...there's already a understanding of how a animation should be structured to work in a homebrew like Nintendont?
Cause I'm a animator myself, and maybe I could help with a unique animation (without copyrighted material) that could fit the project in a later date (if approved).

It seems to me that the gamecube animation you linked is rendered by the console right? ...don't know if a video or img sequence would work the same when outputting at interlaced (as the gif) and in progressive..

Well ..I don't know how it works by default there actually.. ..but it would be interesting to be able to do something related to a loading animation..
If the idea is accepted, and somebody can help me with the innerworks of things, maybe something can be done on that extend in the future

Wiiflow has an animated splash, so I suppose it's possible to do something for nintendont, but in any case it is too early to think about that kind of thing when devs are more focused on getting more compatibility and new features. Your offer is appreciated though, thanks.

Ps: am i the only one that doesn't really dislike the command-line style boot nintendont shows? I think it's better than waiting while looking at an animation wondering why it's taking long (if it's caching from the cache file)

Rename the game folder to the ID too, only the ID and the gct file inside it along with the game.iso

Hey guys, I wasn't sure whether or not to ask this in the Nintendont section or not, but it is relevant. I try to launch gamecube games through usb loader GX, and its not allowing me to do it via usb, only SD. Has nintendont support been pulled from usb loader gx 3.0? Because it had support previously. Nintendont works 100%, its just that its trying to launch through DML and not nintendont

update to the latest version, rev 1226 I think it is; check Cyan's signature. Or try the update option in LoaderGX, it should find the latest version on its own. If you don't have the latest version it will say "only sd is allowed"

Also, make sure you have "Nintendont" selected in the settings for Gamecube Loader, and check the path to nintendont's folder in the Custom Path settings.
