Not sure if it's said elsewhere in the thread, a lot of pages, but is there a description on how to get the necessary codes to map buttons/make a controller compatible? Obviously the human readable name and the V/P ID are easy to get, but not sure about the others.

Triple wat @ jammybudga777

I wanted to stop talking about Nintendont vs Devolution vs Dolphin. The question now isn't Nintendont OR Dolphin, the question is, for Wii U owners that don't have retarded import taxes, why not Nintendont AND Dolphin? Why not both? (or Zoidberg)

There's a big difference between exclusion and inclusion.

Devolution is great, it just has a bunch of problems:

1) Cannot compress media.
2) Cannot use on vWi without also owning a Wii and undergoing a cumbersome procedure.
3) Is missing features that Nintendon't might add.
4) It is not a good backup system, since, if you lose the original disk, you risk not being able to play your backups.

Now, I am not going to knock the developer of Devolution for the AP features, because as the developer, he should have total control over his project and the right to decide how to balance ethics against convenience, and since it is not paid software, everyone owes him a thank you even if they would have made different choices in terms of disk verification.

As for Nintendon't, it is an alpha build, so of course it is not going to compare favorably to an emulator or a VM that has been around for quite a while. Hopefully, the developer will keep working on it and make it the best VM for gamecube games. He deserves our thanks for his efforts, regardless of what they amount to.

Actually some games do work in Devolution when compressed, but not too many people realize this so not many games are confirmed to work (see the compatibility wiki for games currently known to work with ISO compression)

Nevertheless, we're kind of past that discussion...

I just did guess & check with the HIDtest. That is, I changed one value at a time until it matched up.

Ah, alright, thanks. I'll try that. Would be awesome if there were a GUI thing where you press a button and it showed what it was, but the way you say is workable, just a bit more work

Well it kind of does already. Currently when there's a ini controller config file detected it'll show you what GC button is being pressed rather than the raw data value.

Or at least that's how it worked with an older version of HIDtest, I haven't tested the newest one.

I meant the other way around, where it would show the necessary raw data and either prompt you to press the button you want it to be or show it so you can manually assign them

In other words, you want it to be similar to how PC emulators do it (like Dolphin for instance) so that don't have to manually edit the .ini file?

That would be ideal of course but I wouldn't mind it giving the info needed to manually edit it (I haven't gotten past launching it with the default INIs yet so forgive if that's what it does). I'll go through it and manually trial/error if there isn't a way to do that, but in general it would be preferable to not have to. Eh, beggers can't be choosers and all that I suppose.

Well I'm an idiot. Copied one of the ones included in the rar and changed the PID, figured that was as good a start as any. Misread and gave it the wrong one, controller is technically a hub, shows up as (for some reason I'm not entirely certain of) an Internet Keyboard Pro and an Xbox controller. Before I continue, does anyone know if it presenting as multiple devices will interfere with it working in any way once I use the correct ID? Obviously no point in continuing if there's zero chance of getting it working.

==EDIT== That's for a Duke. I prefer the layout, but an S type controller shows up as the much more sensible Xbox Controller S and Xbox Controller S Hub

It's not just about the money, if you wanna enjoy a game like Mario Part 6 for example along with your friends and siblings in a nice wide screen TV, explain to me how to do that using Dolphin ESPECIALLY if your computer/laptop screen was too small and didn't have enough USB inputs?

Also this:
if you have spent some time to test out dios mios then you will see why theres such a hype for nintendont. devolution is good but has gone all in on anti piracy. if nintendont is goin to be up there along side dios mios or maybe even better. thats why there is a hype
