Very good for mobile, not so much for other things. In comparison, pixel c also only have 4GB. But even gtx have 8gb so this is still subject of change.
As for ram the dock could carry its own egpu, which always come with extra video memory.
Edit: It's 4GB, not 6GB.

Hmm, an egpu is a very useful thing for nintendo in the end im thinking 2gb gddr4 on the dock if not gddr3 just to save on cost.
 
Hmm. Seems like it may use something close to a downclocked 1055-1060 with the latest ARM cores on the same chip. When plugged in it will exit extended battery mode and take advantage of fans in the dock to bump up the clock speed.

It does seem like Nvidia wants to prove itself as a viable console chip maker for the future.

What we are arguing for a while. So has 1055 actually came out or just a rumour? Is it a shrink gp106 or the real gp107?
 
A good reference would be the smach z, using a 12w 28nm apu, with 5 hours at 1080p.
It uses a 2.1ghz quad-core cpu and a 512 sps and the gpu should be over 500ghz.
I am pretty sure Nvidia can manage 1280 (20 cu, or 16 cu for better efficiency) shader cores (cuda/ fp64 disabled, which will reduce the cost) at similar clock, and arm cpu.

Also the bench marks. This is done with 15w and 28nm. Pretty sure Nvidia can do better.
  • Skyrim (720p. High setting) ~ 25 FPS
  • Alien: Isolation (720p. Ultra settings) ~ 35 FPS

I think it's just a code name for the Nintendo chip. Has all the parts of a 1050 but a little bit extra where needed.
 
According to the Japanese guy's report the switch is closer to xbox on than the wii u. We could be look at 512 shaders at 1.1+GHz, or 1280 shaders at 450+ MHz.. But of course no insane boost when docked in the first case. Does anyone think there could be switch xl with beefier battery, cooling and clock?

I really doubt they are going make this bigger. If they decided to do a variation, they are most likely going to improve it at the same size or make it smaller to fit in more pockets. I wouldn't want a bigger one, unless they found away to increase the screen size without increase the hardware size or for the Switch 2 they decide to go dual screen again.

I mean, if this is how it ends up being, I happy with it. I just wanted it in the ballpark. I don't think it needs that much power and I want this thing to be at a reasonably price.
 
I still sorry.. your not going to convince me with games like Xenoblade and Mario Kart 8 that most games couldn't have been ported over to the Wii U due to *Power* limitations.

Architectural reasons.. I believe, but I'm sorry.. I really don't see it. Especially when companies could and did port PS3 and Xbox games to the Wii and PS2 successfully. *Granted with major downgrades*

what exactly are you talking about?
 
Nintendo did patent something similar to Nvidia Grid which is basically a way to power a machine using processors elsewhere or even other pcs. Nintendo talked about this in their patent saying users could subscribe to a program to "donate" their console so it could act as a second GPU for another person's console and that person would be rewarded for it. So this machine can be very powerful.
