But your two cents were highly useless becuase youve done zero research.

6gb of ram could quite comfortably fit in this machine which is enough when competing against ps which only has 5gb of available ram due to its massive os which im sure the switchs os is much smaller (could be as low as 50mb)
I never thought about this, I seen some people on other sites saying it needs to be 8gb of ram, but the OS can help lower that by not being so heavy.

It's necessary to place the console on the dock to connect it to an external display. Hmmm.... I wonder what that tells us.

May I remind people.. Before the Wii U, people swore up and down that the tablet would be horribly laggy and unplayable.

Or before the Wavebird.. people -insisted- that the wireless controllers would always be super laggy or in-efficient because of needing LOS

I agree, but it isn't just meant to be a handheld.
True but even a home console os shouldnt be over complicated and large. If nintendo make it simple like the 3DS or WII u all is well.

OR maybe some other reason :)
We wont know till hands on.

Hot swapping isnt hard. Its quite fast when using an egpu. Ive done a lot of research in this and tried it out myself.
I think at least restarting the application is required. The dock unplugging is way too quick.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

SoC means System on Chip, which means everything (CPU, GPU, potentially RAM) would be on a single silicon die made by NVidia. While that doesn't technically confirm what a theoretical eGPU would be made by, it would be very silly for it to be sourced from anyone other than NVidia for compatibility/business purposes
I think Soc required the entire die to be manufactured at once. So the moment it came out it will have everything. Sip is somewhat superior.

the Tegra X1 matches the 'Leaked Specs" specs listed above. Until otherwise known, based on this information it is not Pascal.
Weren't developers saying it was an overclocked Tegra X1, with a huge fan on it to keep it cool? That would indicate something quite a bit beefier than just a Tegra X1.

The best example for hot swapping is none other than surface book. The gpu is in the keyboard. But when the egpu is occupied, and you remove it, it crashes the application using the egpu.

Thats why i mentioned the idea of developing an SDK that allowed the game to not crash.

At the very least, it's competing with PS4 Pro/Scorpio, and the price will probably be similar to those.
No way, this thing has to be cheap for it to be competitive.

I don't know. Massive power scaling might be as feasible and easier to handle in terms of software? The other thing being Nvidia is worse than amd in terms of multi gpu suport.

My problem is expecting a huge die to operate at mobile voltage and still able to run at typical voltage when given enough power. The initiation might be too much for the battery?

There will be price drops early on if it doesn't sell well at full price, but I really don't think the starting price will be any less than $350-$400. Not with the kind of specs I'm expecting from it. It might not be a full on Tegra X2 but I'm expecting somewhere inbetween X1 and X2 at the least. Shield tablet with Tegra K1 is $200, so add $100 for better specs and another $50-100 for the dock and JoyCon. Seems like a reasonable price for getting the full home console experience on a handheld. Even if it is the Nintendo home console experience (given their history of underpowered consoles) there's no doubt that games will look amazing on the handheld.

Tegra k1 is $300 and $400 with 32GB and LTE. The switch definitely won't need top of the line assembly (and being hard to fix) as it is rather thick and have space for everything, no need for extreme thermal designs thanks to a rather large vent and the smaller screen also gives lower prices. I think the dock can be managed with at most $50.
Nvidia is somewhat underhanded as AMD provide both better visual and less lagging even at a lower fps with the same setting, but keep bragging about it. This is due to pascal using a more mobile focused api that sometimes lag more. But with NX, it is perfect to rival Xbox Scorpio and PS4 Pro, like how 1060 is potentially as good as rx 480.

I agree with the dock costing $50, that's assuming there's no extra hardware in there besides TV out and power. I added $50 extra for the JoyCon, but that might be overestimating it. If the JoyCon has accelerometers/gyros in both halves then $50 is probably not too far off.
It wasn't my intention to brag. As a handheld console it'll be way better than either the 3DS or Vita, and will be impressive compared to them, and to everyone who's used to current handhelds (but maybe not as much when compared to flagship phones/tablets), that's all I meant. It might fail to impress as a home console though.

i used to go out to the recycling center every couple weeks and look at the crts and other electronics people would drop off. Usually screens were broken or severely scratched from being tossed around. Did find a good one here and there, but never anything like a 1080i widescreen crt.

Is it piracy if it was released for free? Not in my opinion, but I also think it's not piracy if buying it isn't owning it, and it's not piracy if you can't buy it from the original creators anymore.
