Does anyone know if they've been banned from only backing up and restoring saves using homebrew?
No one has been banned for only using homebrew to backup saves, although it might have contributed to some piracy-related bans. The only homebrew ban thus far was for a user who used gba emulators as well as clearing error logs on 5.X, the latter of which is not recommended. And just because no one has been banned for doing so yet, doesn't mean you can't be banned for manipulating saves with homebrew in the future.

I see. Thanks for the reply! I'll continue to wait and see.

Done what? Restore the Nand? Absolutely, many people, all the time. It is something you may not want to do everyday as there is time and effort involved so it isn’t like dual booting a PC. But say Smash comes out and you want to play online with your friend from college who lives 500 miles away. No reason you can’t go legit for a few days or weeks and then go back to CFW. There are guides in the tutorials section. I think the the Nand does degrade over time, but think it is rated for 5000 or so writes. I think that is enough before it becomes obsolete.
About this, restoring the NAND will delete everything you advanced in both OFW and CFW saves, right? Anyway to save them?

Yes (the same state as it was during nand's backup) so any new progress abandoned
But to save them there is chekpoint and other homebrew utility

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Not banned for homebrew, but I discussed this elsewhere, nintendo sells nes and neogeo games on the eshop, and they let homebrew users not buy in the eshop games they have in emulators, they close sites, you use a log blocker, creport, but if you don't,you leave your logs there, then it would be interesting to know what nintendo would do,the question is,if nintendo doesn't ban,why hidden with creport?

Well you can back up the saves with Checkpoint before restoring the clean Nand but at that point there is not currently a way to get them back on without running CFW again. This is one of the many reasons many choose to fork out the cash and buy 2 Switches. One for OFW and the other for CFW. Some will buy a tablet only off eBay for around $180 to make it easier on the wallet.

Homebrews sometime generate homebrew specific errors. Those errors can and will be uploaded to Nintendo if not redirected to sd card.
Tho this is a motive for a ban,I I don't even think that Nintendo has taken this into account (this might be bullshit, didn't look at the data).
However, deleting these logs on 5.x may results into problems, because some services keep data of tjose. This is even more suspicious for Nintendo.
Well using creport delete both of those possibility.

I'll end it with this: NINTENDO?!?!?!??!?!

Hey there, noob question here. So, i installed some NSPs using tinfoil, not gone online (90dns) but today an exclamation point showed up on my user icon, if i press on it, it says that i have to login into my Nintendo account. I think i've been banned, is it?

90DNS blocks all Nintendo-related traffic to your console. Unless Nintendo added a new telemetry URL or the server went down, its virtually impossible to get banned while using it.

Hello everyone. Somthing new? Some hope for a Reban? Or somthing like this? Or some like for downloading DLC and Updates for Switch games?

just download the .nsp files somewhere and install using the installer

In regards to NSP-updates for XCI-games, since I've never installed one. Are the updates cumulative for Switch?
Say, I can go from 1.0 to 1.5 with just one update? Or do I need all the updates in-between?

To have updated xenoblade2+ all dlc+ the last update works perfectly, and not you only need the last update, because if I update the last maj of a game, I have no message that tells me that my game is not up to date ( just the last maj ok)

Additional Comments
Hacks and Homebrew always offline in last months, used heckate 2.0 with GBA emulator online a while ago when 5.1 was realized.
Restored to "clean" (homebrew GBA emulator used online) NAND before going online and saved again a new clean NAND for future connection.
I had it connected online like 2 day in row just to be sure that I haven't got any ban and played Splatoon 2 and Paladins.

Well i thought that i should try to connect online with my offline switch before the "big" 6.0 realize and let us paranoid, I had it connected online like 2 day in row just to be sure that i haven't got any ban.

Cool 2 days let us know in the next days

Yes, I'm not very young anymore and I'm not old anymore either, and according to my computer knowledge....
the golden rule per kheops
Any console capable of updating itself on the network, before any modification, backup your nand
(X360, ps3, wii, wii and ps4 xbox one)
And no need of crystal ball to know that the ps5 xbox1792 in 2024 will have the same golden rule, because the nand is the only memory to have written able to signal a change...

Last edited by KHEOPS,
Well after the 6.0 realize i will just turn it off again because for online play i got another switch, this one is just for testing purposes and game testing before buying (Yes i like to buy the games that i like).
