After months of countless leaks, Nintendo has finally lifted the curtain on the highly anticipated successor to the Nintendo Switch.

In a short teaser trailer we are given a brief look the new system unsurprisingly titled the Nintendo Switch 2. We also get a glimpse at a new Mario Kart game running on the system and confirmation of backwards compatilbility with Nintendo Switch software and game cards.

We also see the new joycons being pushed along like a traditional computer mouse, further fueling the rumor that the joycons will support a "mouse mode".

Alongside the new trailer, a Nintendo Direct focused on Switch 2 has also been announced for April 2nd.

Casual gamers and parents don’t realise there’s a new thing; don’t buy it.

Hardcore gamers realise it’s just like steam deck, only with less games and power. some buy it eventually… once it gets cracked.

Nintendo stop supporting it after a couple of years, to focus on a new console, which they recycle all the games on and becomes the most successful console since the last time it all happened.

It looks like a barely updated Switch (well updated joycons), surely they're just releasing this as an excuse to get rid of piracy ? The general public is never ever gonna notice the differernce between Switch & and 2, I predict a Wii-U-like disaster. Seriously, this trailer looks like an April Fool's joke.

Well, exactly what 99% of Switch users wanted, instead of stupid experiments like the WiiU.

WiiU was kinda like a Switch prototype and a device that can be compared to a Steam Deck with Nintendo exclusives is not really all that exciting.

I guess I really ruined my surprise at this by following all the leaks so closely

I can't believe they're gonna call it NS2, but it makes sense to. NS2 or Super Switch (like the SNES).

So it's really called Switch 2

I'm more surprised by the fact this was not called the Nintendo Switch XL, because the first minute of the video strongly implied that possibility.

There is good hope that the beefed up specs will be officially announced soon, that would only be the next logical step.

The entire community of Nintendo called it the Switch 2. Literally everyone called it that. Why complain now? Are you guys seriously finding something to complain about?

The only good thing that happened was the leaks cause everyone knew that it was coming today and that they inherently gotten the magic of the console reveal (and potentially the specs) left out of it.

Still be happy that everything new for it and emulation is arising though, i cant wait to potentially see the scene find some day 1 mods to the console to see the true capabillities of the new system.
