Nintendo Switch 2 announced by Nintendo

After months of countless leaks, Nintendo has finally lifted the curtain on the highly anticipated successor to the Nintendo Switch.

In a short teaser trailer we are given a brief look the new system unsurprisingly titled the Nintendo Switch 2. We also get a glimpse at a new Mario Kart game running on the system and confirmation of backwards compatilbility with Nintendo Switch software and game cards.

We also see the new joycons being pushed along like a traditional computer mouse, further fueling the rumor that the joycons will support a "mouse mode".

Alongside the new trailer, a Nintendo Direct focused on Switch 2 has also been announced for April 2nd.

I can't say I had a Switch, but I'd argue bigger isn't really better for a handheld that's already the size of a tablet. It may just be me.
Those joycons are so tiny it hurts to use them, and I say that as a person with very average borderline tiny hands.

Even the 3ds XL size is just barely comfortable to use, so bigger is definitely better in this case.

Nintendo is such a sly, everybody expected a direct announcement yesterday because of leaks, since yesterday nothing happened people dismissed the leaks....then bam, shadow dropping a teaser for a bigger impact. It feels like the leaks were a marketing stunt

Fair. I'm accustomed to the Deck which only has more width in comparison (and totally different button placement), so if I had a Switch, I'd probably go for wider Joycons rather than going for an even bigger device overall.

Not really interested in getting a NSW1 or 2 either way, but a smaller model down the line sounds like an improvement.

This is really cool. But will wait for the exclusives. I bought a used switch last year and I almost never played it as I like steam deck better.

was it REALLY that hard nintendo to announce it?
Something tells me they had the announcement ready for months and had to drop it against their will because of the floodgate of leaked informations, I have a feeling they planned to publicly disclose everything in March or April at the earliest.
