ESA (the gaming industries union for Sony and Ninty) are still supporting SOPA, though. Until ESA pulls out, this isn't that great of news. Ninty and Sony need to get ESA out of there for this to have the impact it needs.

I don't blame them, this bill is more dangerous than Tokyo's Bill 156, it could cause detrimental consequences for major companies if it's passed and abused.
The bill bans:
"Any manga, anime and video games that feature any sexual acts that would violate criminal codes or Tokyo ordinances OR sexual depictions between close relatives who could not legally get married to be treated as adult material IF they are presented in “unjustifiably glorified or exaggerated manner.”

Yeppers, what a sad day for Anime, video games and Manga that was - I too demand my daily dose of incest porn.

Can this just fail already? There are much more pressing concerns at hand than a bill that was likely doomed from the start anyway.

In other news DC comics still do and rumors are saying they have lost 1.5M sales because of it.
I always knew there was a reason I didn't like DC

I just found out Marvel is on that list as well. I guess I shall no longer buy their comics anymore.

EDIT: Also not that many supports on that from the looks of it, although the ones that are on like Disney worry me with the amount of money they can put into this.

It's cause Anonymous threatened to hack PSN if they didn't drop support (and we don't want another hack like last time)

Anonymous probably can't even hack the PSN. They weren't the ones who did the major hack that brought down the PSN for a month. Hell that group is still unnamed, they basically just did it for personal gain (aka for stealing credit cards and harvesting personal info) instead of the personal glory that Anonymous wants. If anything you'll just have the same petty "protest" that Sony got last time from Anonymous: they try to DDoS their site but fail, send Jack Tretton pizzas, and try to organize a sit-in that also fails. HOW FORMIDABLE.

This is probably just, as everyone said, a PR move. It seems that most gamers aren't in favor of the bill so protest or resistance might come from public support of the bill. Of course Sony and Nintendo support it since it would tackle any piracy on their systems, but doing it publicly could lead to some backlash from consumers. Last thing they want is to lose more sales to protest than from piracy.

EDIT: And don't say "OH PIRACY DOESN'T MAKE ANYONE LOSE SALES" because that's a load of bullshit. I know plenty of games I would've bought but didn't because I could just pirate them. I haven't bought DS games for like years and the last Wii game I bought was Goldeneye because it was on sale for $10, before that it was NMH2. I haven't even bought a PSP game. Like ever. On the other hand I still buy Xbox 360 games and even PS2 games when I can since I don't pirate on those systems. While it's not theft it certainly voids sales. I'm sure if you couldn't pirate on a console you'd end up buying more games for it.
Piracy stops me from buying any Wii or DS game, that's why I'm not going to hack future consoles (my 3DS included) So I can buy some games, cause they're more fun when they are bought.
For instance I am getting OoT 3D, but I would of gotten Skyward Sword if it wasn't an option to pirate it.
I think they should just half game prices and that will give people less of an urge to hack their systems to pirate games, and make people not super pissed when there is an update blocking piracy.

Oh, the irony, Congress is nothing but a group of idiots who never had anything going for them, and their deciding to be hypocritical morons only makes them look more retarded.
It's ironic. The US Federal government (It's clearly defined in the Preamble of the Constitution what the real US government is) passes laws making things illegal, but while we go to jail for it, our congressman and senators do these illegal acts and get away with it. They are hypocrits. They take "Do as say, not as I do" to the extreme. The real irony is that the federal government is trying to go towards the form of government that the Founding Fathers set out to get away from. If they were alive today, they would be royally pissed off. If anything, if they knew about this, they would have either removed the Necessary and Proper clause if not adjusted it. The US Federal government is working it's way to a Tyrany, and are doing all they can to control the flow of information with bills such as this, to keep the people ignorant of their Rights. I would say this is what the hidden meaning of SOPA is about, something like this hidden within the pages of this bill. It's like the Clean Air tax. For those who don't know what that is, go look it up and you'll see it's been snuck into a lot of bills that have been passed.

Apparently Nintendo and Sony never supported it in the first place, the only sent a letter to Congress urging for a SOPA-type bill, but not SOPA itself. Read it here.

Also there was an article saying that the Anonymous wouldn't attack the PSN so basically if they were to follow through with this bullshit it'd be just as weak as their last attack. I can't wait for another failed DDoS and another disappointing "sit-in" and another lame "pizza sending" scheme.
