Nintendo has announced that it is putting the NES Classic Mini back into production next year.

The company stated that the NES Classic would cease production earlier this year, leading to complaints from fans who hadn't been able to obtain one. As a result, the system's price on the secondary market went through the roof, with units changing hands for two or three times the original sale price.

Thankfully, Nintendo has listened to reason and is going to release more NES Classics during the summer of 2018.

In addition to this, the company has confirmed that more units of SNES Classic Edition will ship at launch in the U.S. than were shipped of NES Classic Edition for the entirety of last year, and additional shipments are due to arrive in stores on a regular basis.

It seems like common sense have prevailed and we're going to avoid a repeat of the NES Classic situation; Nintendo says that shipments for the SNES Classic were due to end at the conclusion of 2017, but it will continue production into 2018.

In short, Nintendo has finally realised that if you have a popular product, you should keep making it.

Update: We've had an official statement from Nintendo UK on this, as well:

We’re happy to confirm that we’ll continue to ship stock of the Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System to Europe in 2018.

In addition, next summer we’ll also bring the Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System back to Europe. More information will be shared in the future.
