do i unlink nands before or after i install menuhax?

Once you setup Emunand and have a solid way to enter it then you can unlink your Nand's. Unlinking your nand's is simple go to system settings while in Sysnand, pop out your SD card and do a system format, shutdown, pop the SD in and power on like normal to Sysnand and let it reset home management. That will unlink your Nand's.

Also a tip for NNID make sure you do a system format in Sysnand before attempting to sign into it on Emunand.

Triple check you have the correct firmware updates before running Sysupdater in sysnand and make sure your in rxTools dev mode.

Then you'll be fine the only thing that can cause a brick is user error (Using N3DS updates on O3DS / Not sing Dev Mode to update).

so im done until step 7 , and while i think i can pull off the menuhax thing, is there any disadvantage to mset besides no ds games?
also, im supposed to launch the games in emunand mode mode as well right?
can i go online?
how do i play something from a different region?
