New release of FreeMyXe by @InvoxiPlayGames has been made, with the addition of getting Original Xbox games to work correctly via a separate homebrew application, as well as disable Xbox Live when connected to the network.

New Release: FreeMyXe beta 4

Features:

• Added patch for the 30ms System Link ping limit.
• Added translations for French, Portuguese, Polish, German, Chinese, Korean. See README for credits!
• Added support for using xell-2f.bin files.
• Added "OGXboxPrep.xex", a homebrew that you have to run to fix OG Xbox games.
• Disables connecting to Xbox Live. You MUST still disconnect before you start running the exploit!

Yes. You should always disconnect from the internet before running the BadUpdate exploit with FreeMyXe, as your console can be flagged by Microsoft as 'banned' if they detect that you're using a modded console. With FreeMyXe, if you're going to download plugins or other homebrew via the internet, then you can safely connect, but be sure to disconnect once it's not needed.

On OG Xbox games do I have to prep them or patch them before playing?

You run the "OGXboxPrep.xex" application from XeXMenu prior to launching any OG Xbox title. To launch another game, you need to run the app again.

I tried running Burnout 1 (with Xexmenu) after running the Xbox prep app and it just sat there on the Xbox menu. Thankfully though it did not freeze there.

1. Do original Xbox games need to be patched to remove restrictions?
2. Can we run the hacked Xbox emulator with more playable games?
3. Can they be ran and played from USB?
4. What does the app actually do? Does it patch the retail, non-modded emulator on the HDD or does it patch something in memory on runtime to allow playing original Xbox games from non-disc hardware?

Has anyone had any success playing original Xbox games after running the app?

I can see myself using to this exploit to copy the nand before a rgh. I fucked up once and bricked my model e with a bad nand dump.

If you extracted your key, you could build a donor nand?

This idea might be farfetched but you think this could be 'worked on/modified to' stacked on Collateral Damage to run RBB on Canary to extract keys/nand from next gen consoles? I understand it's coded specifically for latest 360 dashboard...

Another thing is what is the xell-2f.bin used for? I can confirm Achievement notification sounds work now on Aurora/XexMenu.

XeLL-Reloaded. You do not need this unless you have chipped your Xbox 360 and are wanting to setup a NAND with J-Runner.

You may, but after the exploit was successful. If you're considering on turning off your Xbox 360 when you're done, always make sure to turn off the internet, because the settings still link to your console after using FreeMyXe.

Good to know. Do Aurora scripts install to the Nand or just the Aurora folders? Thinking of adding Xefu scripts or even title updates.

Converting an Xbox original game to iso, then to the on demand format and attempting to run them from the dashboard after running the prep app caused my system to lock up.

If a solution is available, please tell me. Was this created to run Xbox originals from DVD-R?

Tested the new update. When connecting to a network you'll get a fail error. It shows you connecting to your network but not the internet or XBL. This is normal you are connected online. You can download and install covers,Title Updates,and scripts including emulators. I tested snes360 and it didn't work and tried using xexmenu to patch the xex and still failed. I'm going to swap out the xex with a xextool patched xex to see if it works. I'm new to Aurora so need to figure out how to edit covers.

Nope. You copy the nand to get xell. So without xell you can't get the key. Here is the post I made trying to fix it

Edit: If the Nova plugin from Aurora is running and the Xbox prep is run, the system will freeze when accessing the guide/

I hope someone makes an app to fully dump Xbox 360 and original Xbox games to HDD and USB even if it has to split them for FAT32 USB drives. Copying files and running extracted into a folder is fine, but for backing up games for archival purposes people should not have to remove the DVD drive from the console and use it on a PC.

I know an FTP app exists but that can take a while and use up bandwith.

If the exploit fails, when would it fail? I’m on an Phat Xbox 360 with the green and orange ring lights.

The first time I ran it, I got stuck on three green rings (end of stage 3) after 30 mins.

Second time I got stuck on alternating lights (orange light on quadrant 1 and 4 or 2 and 3. (Mid stage 3)

Third time I ran it, I left the room so when I came back, FreeMyXe was running.

I’ve ran it 3 times today with no luck, if I check the status at 30 minute and im at stage 3 lights where the opposing orange ring lights are lit, do I start over, or is the exploit still active?

XeXMenu has the ability to dump Xbox 360 and Original Xbox games. Navigate to your folder containing your games, create a new folder with the game title you're willing to copy. Navigate to that folder then press (Y) and 'CopyDVD'.
