What if I already have the 2nd revision of 4.3 and update?
Then you already did something stupid (or your Wii came with 4.3, which is excusable, although I would downgrade to 4.1 myself), and upgrading would still install stubs.

It's faster and easier just to install the Shop Channel wad.

wait a second, So what Im hearing is

Using NUSD v1.9 (after updating database) Go to:

system> shopping channel> 41 all system> latest version (click start download)(Downloading Title 0001000248414241 v21 Finished...)

I can then check "pack WAD", save. Then install it using a WAD manager and it'll work just fine without updating the system software hence, My wii is no longer hacked and can run homebrew???

Your Wii will be exactly the same (other than the Shop Channel working), as long as you install the wad directly.

alright, i've got a 4.3 wii hacked with letterbomb.
i've never needed to install anything else or update any ios or wad or whatever it is so far, i've really only hacked this for some emulation anyway.
so if i want the shopping channel to work again, what exactly do i have to download and do?

Choose Shop Channel v21 on NUSD. Check "Local Files", "Pack -> Wad", and "Delete Contents" (or uncheck "Keep encrypted contents" on new versions), then download. It will create a wad in the NUSD folder. Install that with any wad manager. Multi-Mod Manager is my preference.

I see this all the time but I've never understood what benefit there is to downgrading to System Menu 4.1, is there anything you can do with it that it is not possible to do with 4.3?

Mainly 4.1 is safer and offers more brick recovery options (Netflix exploit, Bannerbomb 1, Bannerbomb 2, etc.)

So the new WiiShop thingy and IOS62 is for the WiiShop only?
I can go play games online not worry about my Wii updating itself or something?
I am on 4.3 right now.

Correct, you can still play games online and not worry about your Wii updating itself. If you want to make sure you never accidentally update your Wii, make sure you have Priiloader and update-blocking hacks installed.

The Wii Shop Channel update only affects the Wii Shop Channel (obviously), and I don't think IOS62 is used for anything yet since the Wii Shop Channel still allegedly uses IOS56. Someone correct me if I've heard wrong.

You get an "I am an idiot" sticker.

That will install stubs and update you to 4.3, which has no other purpose than to block homebrew and try to brick region changed Korean Wii's.
I'm already on 4.3 though.

EDIT: Wait, do I need to install IOS62? And how would I go about that?

What do I do?
1) DL Shop v21 and IOS62 via NUSD
2) Pack Shop v21 and IOS62 into WAD
3) Install both Shop v21 and IOS62 WADs using a WAD manager?

Step by step instructions please? I'm new to IOS' and stuff.

That'd work just fine. It might break some warez crap, but other than that, it would have no detrimental effect.
As in USB loading for example?

I just don't want to break anything. Can someone write up a guide?

EDIT: I used WiiMod to install the latest version (It says I'm on v20, but I get no 'Update available!' prompt when connecting to the store, and can browse it normally).
How do I install IOS62? DL it with NUSD, install with a WAD manager?
