see bottom..it was updated (still reads two changes, then lists 3 for instance)

Yeah, sorry man. I updated my post. But anyway, this makes sense.

In terms of the Twilight Hack, there are three things.

1. When you have it installed and you reboot your Wii, you get a message that says "Your data is corrupt" blah blah blah. This is the VerifySavedataZD

2. If this check fails, DeleteSavedata is called, and the data is deleted.

3. If you try to copy Zelda savedata from your SD card, it runs WADCheckSavedataZD on the data.bin file (which is essentially a WAD of save data encrypted with the sd-key), and allows or disallows the copying based on the result.

The format, which is a special header followed by a WAD file, is described in the Savegame Files page.

so, the WAD installer/uninstaller ISO from waninkoko not working anymore, right?
Theoretically they should still work with official WADs... Like untouched VC channels, Wiiware, etc.

Got the "Letter" on my Message Board about the update, hit CLOSE, then went on to play some GBC games on my Homebrew Channel...

Crisis Averted!

w00t!

Update 3: They wrote a special-purpose function to try to check for the exact exploit we used — specifically, if a savegame is for Zelda, it checks the length of 6 strings inside the savefile (two of which are the player name and horse name). It repeats this check for all 3 saveslots, and then another three times for all 3 backup slots.

No, we do not have a response to this yet; we will probably take a few days to formulate one. I predicted Nintendo would *not* do this; I’m disappointed. This was the first bug we found, in the first game we tried. We’ll find others, and they’ll have to try to catch up to each.

I’ll open up comments, but please only post if you have something constructive to say.

Yay finally nintendo did something to all this piracy stuff.

not really they slowed down VC/WiiWare piracy but only slightly, those that were going to pirate will already have the apps installed to do it and are unaffected, the only real people it affects are the true homebrewers who still use the old method of things, and any new would be pirates.

the fact still remains those with a drive mod still work and were unaffected, this was a direct hit at homebrew in my view....

pirates can still play there VC/WiiWare titles they installed HBC still works, WAD installer uninstaller still works, and most importantly Burned games were totally unaffected, not much of a solution to piracy

Just a thought - this update simply detects whether or not your savefile was ticketed by your console, right? If that's the case, couldn't someone make a patcher program to let people patch their own save files, thereby letting them run the Twilight Hack?

Quoted from http://hackmii.com/2008/06/june-16-wii-update/
Referring to Zelda: Twilight Princes Save
"it checks the length of 6 strings inside the savefile (two of which are the player name and horse name). It repeats this check for all 3 saveslots, and then another three times for all 3 backup slots."

Hopefully, people know how the twilight hack works. I will briefly explain. It uses the horses name, and the people have made the name soooo long and full of code, that when someone mentions it in the game, it will execute a specified file in the code (horse's name).
So at the moment, i highly doubt that you can just make a save file for a Wii. It doesn't actually scan the region, type or anything like that in the save, but user inputted values.

AvEnGeR.

As they're taking so much notice of the scene and harmless homebrew, maybe they'll take fucking notice of the Europeans getting fucked off with shit VC releases, overpriced and delayed games and no HDD!

Yay update. Something new. Ummm....what I can say. The good thing there is that it will allow to save VC games on SD. And well...that's it. WAIT did ya' say that scrubbed, singed Brawl will not work....ahh so I not update. Sorry Nintendo it's rather too late. But of course it will made some problems. 3.3E/U finally shows that Nintendo CARE about homebrew. %^&@ them. I at least hope thet some games will not use this f@#$5 update. There will be Super Mario RPG coming to VC and I wanted to buy it, but now...

So let me get this right:

- The Zelda Trick will not work with the new update.
- Modified saves will be modified/deleted.
- Wad Installer and Un-installer still works?
- Freeloader won't work? (FUCK)
- Will my SSBB US save still work and be on my PAL Wii?
- Original (and burned) USA/JP games still run on my PAL chipped Wii?

Do you constantly fail at life? everyone here uses that same retard excuse of "homebrew homebew homebew" "My backups." At least man up and say you're using the exploit as a wad installer to get VC/WiiWare games and stop lying to yourselves.
