Is my flash drive not compatible with WBFS or something? I can only format it into FAT, FAT32, exFAT, or NTFS (but thats using the built in windows 7 formatter)
Well, Windows doesn't have the ability to format into WBFS. It's not a Windows filing system. As far as Windows knows, it isn't a file system. That's why you need to use a WBFS manager or a Wii application. Both PC managers and homebrew applications can format just about any filing system into WBFS if I'm not mistaken...and I apologize for not clarifying that, it's my mistake for not clarifying it in my last post.

QUOTE(xzxero @ Nov 11 2009, 01:43 AM) you dont even have to format it to WBFS

just go for the FAT loading with CFG USB loader.

Hmm. I must have overlooked this. I've been out of the scene for a bit. Didn't know this existed. That's neat, to say the least. I would think it limits the choices of loaders though, like Neogamma (which is needed here). Or am I mistaken there too?

Woah.. I just download WBFS manager.. and I think its amazing. I mean its really easy to use and all the features on it!

thanks for helping me out.. I don't know what that CFG USB loader is but I think I prefer WBFS manager

hmm it barely came out like 2 weeks ago i think?
for now only Configurable USB Loader supports loading from a FAT drive
but soon other loaders will have it implemented.
it's pretty awesome
btw: wrote that piece of the guide today

why is Neogamma "needed" here as you say?

any USB loader will do.
When loading from WBFS, almost everybody has had problems starting the game, myself included. I've tried CoverFloader, USB Loader GX, etc. Apparently NeoGamma is the only one that can get the correct settings (Region, anti-002), and start it without it crashing.

Indeed WBFS manager is the best of the two for now, but CFG Loader has it's own advantages too. Being able to run in FAT32 all it's own is pretty outstanding, but I'm afraid that it will take a while for it's comparability to be up to standards of the actual WBFS filing system. and if I'm not mistaken, doesn't running in FAT32 reduce reading speeds by 2x?

thats odd
i have a WBFS and FAT drive [ 2 different USB devices] and they both load the patched version of NSMB [main.dol patched] perfect using force NTSC in any loader.

WBFS manager is not a USB loader.
how are you guys comparing it to CFG USB loader?

what standards?
it stores the files in the very same way, just on FAT drive instead.
The loading times are the same if not better.

That is odd, really. You're in minority, because that sure as heck doesn't work for most of us.

All the more power to 'ya. Yeah, I run the patched dol version myself, so that can't be the variable affecting it. Perhaps it's system menu version? Many of us are reluctant to update finding a lack of need. I'm still at 4.0U myself.

it has nothing to do with the system menu version
rest assured
there are people playing on 3.2

Perhaps I worded it a tad poorly. I meant the setup of WBFS filing system.
By standards, I was implying how many games will actually run.
And I was told once before that when loading from the FAT system, that it would be slightly slower than the WBFS. Maybe I'm remembering from a time further back where this "estimation" wasn't quite as accurate. I can remember a time it was said that loading DVD-R versions of games without a modchip would be impossible no matter what. They sure as hell proved themselves wrong.

I trucha bugged ios53 and it runs from the disc channel smoothly.
It would seem we have another minority.

I assume you have a mod chipped console? If so, it has been confirmed to run through that method...if you are softmod only and have this running, then it would seem I've actually met a true second minority tonight.

what settings do i need to use to boot this in either USB loader GX or NeoGamma r7?

i'm using the scrubbed PAL ISO on japanese PAL wii with 3.2J, cIOS rev 14.

any time i try to boot it, with either of the two loaders with any variety of settings, i get the japanese language equivalent of "please eject the disc and power off your console."

if there is already a walkthrough on how to do this please show me! i have searched the forums but haven't been able to find the info i need.

Has anybody actually tried to run this via WBFS on SD? My lad wants his Wii softmodding to play this, but he doesn't have a USB HDD or modchip. Don't want to spend the time modding it, if he can't play it. Ive pottered around the other various threads but can't see any confirmation of it working with this method.

Yeah, works fine through NeoGamma. Probably through cfg too but I haven't tested it and don't know which other loaders support SD/HC loading.

I updated yesterday to Beta 7 Channel version, would this work? I prefer Channel versions to forwarded ones.

Sorry to appear noobish, Im at work at the mo and just want to go home armed with info so I can crack on.

so about that neogamma that's compatible:
does that mean the patched iso or can it run the full clean/untouched iso?

Its works with Neogamma, but I had a typical problem. The game is black and white.
I run a pal game in Jap wii.I need some configuration to run the game with more colors or just wait for NTSC release?
