Hacking New SD Card

Hi, I accidentally broke a SD card which uses R4iGold DS, now, since I'm a noob on this, what exactly do I have to do so my DS3D reads my new SD card? Sorry for my noobish question.

Download the latest kernel from here. Extract its contents to the root (root = first directory) of your micro sd card.

Mind if i ask how you broke it? Since micro sd's take some skill to break in half, or was it a lost or something?
