A canadian friend came down for a visit and brought me a can and told me to try a plate of her fresh hot poutine(for those of you that think this is an innuendo its french fries with gravy and cheese). Its fantastic.

This only works if it's good cheese, great chips and great gravy. The chips must be cooked golden brown, and then the cheese must be melted under the grill. The gravy can't be weak thinned crap, you must use a lot of the gravy packets!!

If it was done like that, it would be amazing.

Agreed.

If you start with lame fries, you get lame poutine.

If you use lame gravvy, you might have just ruined good fries.

And the cheese can't be just some cheese looking gunk either.

Done right, you also need a beer (real beer, not lame US beer like Coors Lite), and a donut, and a butter tart and maybe a Joe Lois.

Forget your heart you pansy.

Yeah, poutine is great every once in a while. It's not soggy unless you let it sit for an hour before eating it. I like mine with light toppings. Don't want it overflowing, a light topping is awesome

Oh. I think "poutine sauce" is just beef gravy. And the cheese is curds.

I'm sure some Tempers from Quebec know better though.

I just saw a sign at a small 24-hour breakfast restaurant advertising hashbrown poutine. I would've ordered one but I don't think my body can take all the cholesterol.

Anyone even capable of thinking of their health wants to avoid poutine.
